Off Topic but relevant. Win 7 MCE hangs on setting change

I can delete something I watched, without a problem. Most other actions, the kind that bring up a dialog box hang. Example, delete a series, change drive to record to. Posting here to see if it is an issue for anyone else. My hardware is old, but, does not show any obvious sings of failure. Microsoft did a "security" update and also installed EDGE in the last 6 months. I tried standing on one foot and swinging a rubber chicken, failed to fix it. Any CONSTUCTIVE suggestions welcome
