Transfering Guide Data to XP WMC from Windows 7 ?

#1

Post by Russ » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:16 pm

Hi, I have lost internet connection on my 6 year old computer with Windows XP and the 2005 WMC and have gotten a new one with Windows 7 and the new WMC.
I would love to still be able to update the GUIDE DATA on the old computer.
Is there any way to transfer the DATA info from a new version of WMC to the older version of WMC ?
thx, Russ

I don't think transferring guide data from XP to Win 7 is possible. Is there any reason you cannot restore Internet access to your old computer?

I'm guessing that the OP's ethernet adapter died in his XP computer. He could add one via a PCI or PCIe slot... or if that's not possible due to lack of available slots, even a USB-to-ethernet adapter would work.

Tried this and only got "limited connectivity" and could not access internet except dial-up which is costing me extra.
thx for suggesting.

"limited connectivity" usually indicates that it did not get an IP address and/or that it could not find a DNS server. Did you try to let XP try to fix it for you?
