Can anyone provide a zip code for a guide that goes out further than September 22? We have tried the mcupdate thing and changing the zip code (not sure what my son is changing it to) - but neither has worked. St. Louis Charter Spectrum - 63139

I was at Sept 22 and just did a forced update in Los Angeles (91324) and now have date to Oct 1. Running McUpdate.exe -uf requires that it is run from an administrator command prompt. Make sure your son is right clicking on the C prompt Icon and running it as administrator and changing from the opening of Admin command from Windows/system32/ to Windows/ehome/ before typing the command. Once the command runs you can close the command prompt window.

My guide info ran out on the 22nd and running a forced update hasn't fixed it. Anyone else in the same boat?

I didn't even know there was a problem until I noticed that channels 9 and 13 didn't have guide data past 28th.

I have guide data that extends to Oct 6th. Usually when this happens MCUpdate.exe -uf fixes it but I might give it another day or so. I don't know how long its been like this but I usually like to be sure that the guide will update at all before attempting to fix the missing channel guide data.

Edit

After all, if there is a problem on their end there is nothing I can do to fix it on my end.

For some time now, as a backup, I have been running Plex DVR with a second SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime. It seems to be working fairly well so far, although, it can't record premium channels. Even if it did I don't want to archive DRM files. With Microsoft Media Center I can use an Hauppauge HD PVR for analog H.264 / AVC 1080i / 720p DRM free recordings along with the CableCard tuner which is more flexible.

Update: after 4 days of no guide data, and trying the mcupdate.exe -uf fix without success (as well as a bunch of other stuff), I managed to get new guide data to October 6 by completely re-running TV Setup.

Instead of taking the usual 15-30 minutes to run setup, enter a zip code and download new data, it took SIXTEEN HOURS. It took 9 hours just to get past "Downloading TV Setup Data." :wtf:

To anybody who constantly has guide issues or the "quarterly guide issues", I would strongly suggest giving EPG123 a try.

Not sure why anybody would want to constantly go thru the head aches to save $25 a year (yearly fee for Schedules Direct), when I'm sure that more than that (a year) is being spend on more trivial stuff (like Starbucks)

Bold assertion that the people who are reluctant to spend $25/year are the same people going to Starbucks.

I figure not wasting 16 hours of ones time is worth $25 regardless of whether you patronize Starbucks or not.

Well sure, if I had known when I started it was going to take 16 hours to complete, I probably would've tried EPG. (But maybe not, because for all I know it'll take longer than 16 hours to get EPG working--messing around with my ten-year-old Win 7 WMC installation seems like a recipe for disaster.)

I would say 16 hours is atypical :D, although I haven't had to go through TV Setup in years.

I'm all for EPG123, it is fantastic. But while the data from Rovi/TiVo is still bad, it has improved somewhat from the pre-TiVo days. The biggest problem I have with it is the OADs are wrong way too often (so I always use the "New & Rerun" option and rely on the "already recorded in the past" feature to avoid recording reruns).

And better guide data is just the tip of the iceberg with EPG123, as it also brings back many features that were lost when Microsoft switched from their old guide provider (Gracenote) to their new provider (Rovi/TiVo) and even adds additional brand new features. But even so, for some people, free is free (or if it ain't broke, why fix it?).

I'm curious to know if Rovi/Tivo is still exhibiting the problem that finally pushed me over to EPG123 which is that the weekend College football games would never update from TBD to the actual games once the schedules were set for the weekend.

I don't really know, I don't watch much sports, but looking at the guide now, I see that is has college football on the ESPN channels for this Saturday and they all have teams in the description. Looking at all shows named "College Football", I see that they all have teams up until a couple on MSG+ that have "Teams TBA" on 9/29.
Pretty much every other one has teams until 10/6 where it starts with a bunch of "Teams TBA".

Where do you get 16 hours? Even if I delete the ehome folder and set everything backup, that takes about a half hour. To reschedule the 90 or so shows, takes about another hour

He is referring to Jeeshman's post. I'm not sure why it would take that long...

Mine worked again for a little while and I am out of guide for many (not all) channels. Apparently, downloads are successful. Just don't have the data for many channels or can't merge? comcast 60067

Did do adn monitored progress, all stated succesful
mcupdate –uf
but not
mcupdate.exe -uf -pscn0 –dbgc (not sure if this adds anything)

I have again contacted ROVI/TIVO to ask them to contact Microsoft and inform them that the EPG has not updated with new scheduling information for 4 days.
