Guide Data Outage - Fall 2016 Edition

Has anyone been having guide download failures for the past couple days?

My guide ends at 8pm ET on 9/27.

When I tell it to download the guide, it seems to download but then it ends with an error:

Guide download error
The guide could not be downloaded.
...

I fear the changes I made to my hosts file (and have since reverted) to avoid downloading the the bad guide data that was being reported by TiVo users caused some other kind of issue on my system...

If others are also having this issue (please post here to confirm), then it might have been caused by the "To Be Announced" issue that TiVo users were experiencing.

It appears that the issue has been clearing up on the Rovi data, so perhaps once that is completely fixed the feed will start working again.

I suppose it is better to miss the feeds for a few days than to get bad data that causes many programs to be removed from the guide and replaced by "TBA".

No EPG update yesterday or today for me either (last good update was on Thursday Sep 15), If it doesn't clear up by Monday I will open a ticket at Microsoft.

In case it's useful for the discussion here - My guide reports that it ends 9/28. I haven't check the Media Center logs for any errors, however.

I think the last EPG update with new data was Wed, Sept 14 at ~10 pm EDT. The update time changed 2-3 days before then from ~6:30 am.

That puts us at 3 days with updates with no new data and listings running out at 8 pm EDT Sept 27 although stuff like the talk shows and 48 hours/Dateline type shows detail is missing already.

I can't remember things ever getting fixed after a 3 day outage unless someone contacted MS or at least started a Connect thread. Would do it myself but am not running WMC.

Edit: Looks like someone started a thread although I wish it was titled and described better.

Thanks for opening the ticket.
I asked Barb from the Microsoft Community pages to email her contact at Microsoft to fix it again, she has been very successful with
getting Microsoft to respond.

Same problem here.
My guide data is ending at 6 am on September 28 2016.
I hope things get sorted out since the new season is starting for most TV shows and we can't record without guide data.

Barb a moderator on Microsoft Community who has contacts at Microsoft who have helped get these issues resolved on many occasions has sent
an email to contact so hopefully they jump on it.

FYI, you can manually set up to record on WMC - it is a pain to do for a lot of programs but it can be done. Go to the Guide page, fast forward to the end of the listing for the channel you want to record on and then on a blank line for that channel right click on your mouse and select Record from the menu that pops up. Then you can select the date and start and end times for the recording (like on an old VCR). You won't have the program name but it will record.

Thanks for that. She really is very nice to do this each time the EPG updates get tripped up.

I'm also stuck on the 28th, and upticked the Connect complaint.

This outage seems to be a bit different from previous ones. Before, if you went to Tasks >General >Automatic Download Options and clicked Download Now, about 30 seconds passed and you'd get a Guide Downloaded Successfully message. It wasn't true, but it was consistent.

Now it takes about 3 minutes when you think it might be working, only to get a Guide Could Not Be Downloaded error - as if communication has been cut off from the Mothership. Weird.

my guide also ends on 9/28 (california). Added a comment to the bug link above.

When I ask it to get the latest, it seems to download it, says it ended successfully, but data still ends on 9/28

Again! This one is NOT a daylight or standard saving time garbage. This looks like a simple cutoff issue - I hope! Nov 6 is when we will once again have a massive list of comments. Till then we need our guide data.

I also have the same problem. I have been making some changes with Plex Media Server on the same box and was concerned that something I did their caused the problem. My guide ends on the 27th around 8PM. I have also noticed that I am unable to download windows updates on the windows 7 machine that is running WMC and Plex. I'm not sure if that is connected or not but it is something I noticed.

My EPG is also only until 9/27, but many of my channels now say "No data available" starting at 7pm tonight.

Mine ends 9/28 as well.. since this is not the daylight savings time issue.. does this mean this is the end of guide listings? Has anyone contacted Microsoft?
