Arcsoft TMT5 and 24p can you explain ?

#1

Post by cw-kid » Mon Aug 08, 2011 11:20 am

Hi

I've never really understood the 24p thing fully so perhaps you can enlighten me. I upgraded to Arcsoft TMT 5.0.1.114

One of the new features is: Support automatic refresh rate switch to 24hz for 24FPS content (BETA)

What does this new feature in Arcsoft TMT do?

How do I tell if this feature is even enabled or not?

If it is enabled how do I know its working correctly?

I have upgraded My Movies to version 4.02 PR1 which supports this newer version of Arcsoft TMT5. My Blu-ray discs are ISO's mounted with Virtual Clone Drive.

My LG 42" LED HDTV supports 24P - Real Cinema 24p (24p 5:5/2:2 Pull down) = Yes

Thanks
Stuart

The feature does not work inside WMC. If you fire up TMT from explorer with WMC closed you should see it in action. The TV will change refresh and report 24Hz when you play a bluray.

Oh and what it does is really help with motion and pan jitter as it matches the frame rate without having to rely on any 3:2 pull down.

An excellent demo to watch in 24p is Planet Earth bluray.

I can't get it to work outside of WMC either (I'm currently on version 113). So I rely on AnyDVD's tool to do the change instead.

Interesting, as it does work well for me (allthough I really wish they could make it work inside of WMC).

Do you know if they have any plans to make it work in the wmc version? I never use tmt out side of wmc.

I don't know but hopefully they will. I am the same, would love to see it work in WMC.

What's the AnyDVD Tool called?

It's part of the AnyDVDHD suite and therefore costs moolah unfortunately.

Sounds like it works in WMC in version 114 per the arcsoft forums.

Oh really? Excellent. I appear to be still on .113. I will try the upgrade when I get home. Looks like .114 is relatively new (a few days old).

Does nothing happen for you in WMC CW?

Well I'm not sure to be honest, it plays as usual - I click play on a title in My Movies and it launches TMT within MCE and the movie plays OK etc. If I select "show information" from TMT menu there is nothing that mentions 24P

If it is working I can't tell if it is or not? which is why I asked the question. But I'm not really sure what I am looking for etc.

What does your TV report the refresh rate as? I can press info on my TV remote and it reports the resolution and refresh rate.

It just says: Support automatic refresh rate switch to 24hz for 24FPS content (BETA) Doesn't say if that's for stand alone or WMC version of TMT5?

I am playing the Avatar Blu-ray now, within MCE/TMT5 and pressing info button on the TV remote, at the top it does say 16:9 1080P 24Hz

Okay and when you stop play? Should go back to PAL 50Hz? (Over here is NTSC 60Hz)

If I stop the movie and go back to the My Movies title page it does then say 60HZ on the TV info. Think I have it running at 1080p 60Hz in ATI CCC and not 50HZ.

So that would suggest its working!
