The Author has made this free! if you go to the site to download there is a license key to copy for full functionality ... now I bought five keys back in the day... but still a great add on.

Yes the strip can be customised. I've removed Movies but added Guide and Recording options and done away with the standard TV strip altogether.

Bad News

TheTVDB are planning to discontinue their old v1 API as of October 1st, 2017. This API is used to provide the content for TV shows in RTVHD. This means that unless RTVHD is updated to use the new v2 API, it will no longer function after this date. The v1 API is already showing it's age and has had reports of occasional problems. I think they are struggling to keep it functional.

RTVHD is no longer actively supported and so chances of an update are rather slim. It would be a real shame if it just stopped working in October.

It would be nice if the code would be let out in the wild. It went free not too long ago so why not let the code out? If it stops is it probably best to delete it?

Yes it would be nice. I did ask for this but the developer seems to have moved on. I had a poke around myself a while back and it all appears to be packaged up in a protected DLL, which doesn't help.

It maybe is just a few lines of code. I'd be willing to kick in a few bucks to entice the update.

Thanks for the info. I still use Recorded TV HD so there's a chance I may update it so that it will keep functioning. No promises though :)

Changing from xml to json is a lot more than a few lines of code Sammy2, but I'll see what I can do.

Awesome news! Many thanks.

If you do find the time it might be worth looking at TheMovieDB API at the same time. I guess it could be using a some fairly old calls there too.

I get that. I didn't realize the extent of the changes to the API server, but yes, that is significant. Thanks for chiming in on this! That was me on Facebook, BTW.

I'm sure there are more than just a few people who would love to see this plugin live on. its kind of a shame to see one thing after another die in WMC when its still used by quite a few people.

I love RTVHD, I paid for it a few years ago and have been using it since.

I would be willing to contribute a little $ to keep it going! Or purchase another updated paid version.

Thanks for your program @markterborg :)

Long time user as well, I'd be happy to rebuy, with the new API, I was hoping to keep my system going at least through Jan 2020, if I recall is the official EOL for Win7.

With EPG123 and Schedules Direct we are no longer reliant on Microsoft. So Media Center will live on past 2020.

I'd be willing to kick in a few bucks as well, if that helped at all. Great plugin. If it dies, it honestly might be the final push for me.

yep, that is correct, was really hoping a real replacement would have come out by now by no one seems to want to get the cable labs cert or what ever is required for protected content. But yes, we are good, but I've yet to install EPG123.

I also have WHS2011 still going to archive my recordings.
