W7CallerID

After struggling off and on for quite a while and with others graciously trying to help me get caller ID working on my W7 X64 system in Media Center, I finally got it working with a new Caller ID server and addin (W7CallerID) which was just recently released. I tried many solutions to no avail. Somewhere along the line some updates made these solutions less reliable or non workable because I have seen the posts that these other solutions can be made to work on X64 systems. While the servers always worked to notify in Windows their addins never got me the notifications in MCE. This addin worked straight away w/o any registry tweaks. Not having caller ID was the last wife excuse not to get rid of the cable boxes. I got this to work with a cheap 14 buck generic USB Data FAX modem (Conexant based).. Also, adding caller pics is made real easy and my wife loves that pictures of the daughters and mothers or friends pop up when we get calls. BTW this also notifies on the Xbox extenders.

Anyway, thanks to those who posted previously, offered advice and help with the other apps etc. and if they don't work maybe W7callerID will work for you.

This looks to be a decent product. Unfortunately I need more than three clients to run from it.
I have had 100% success with the manual method touched on by ckensto above.
I feed 7 clients, excluding extenders of course.
It's a little bit of work, but if you're not afraid to tinker, it's certainly do-able.

Sounds really cool. It almost makes me wish that I still had a home phone instead of mobile phones for everyone in the family. :)

Now, I'd buy that! When do you plan to make this feature available???

Also, I would need more than three extenders supported. I currently have four extenders. By default, Media Center supports up to 5 simultaneously-connected extenders (10 with TV Pack). Could you make it support at least 5 extenders?

Release will be available in a week. I can change to 5 but will be not able to test :?

OK, I can test on four of them simultaneously.

Question: How many mobile phones will be able to connect via Bluetooth simultaneously? Also, will the pop-up on the TV screen tell me which phone is receiving the call?

I do not limit number of phones. Yes you can configure phone name in the modem settings:

then you will see it in brackets

It would be great if this worked with the magicjack with no need for a dialup modem. I have my magicjack connected to my media center 24/7 (I don't have the plus) and I use "magicsilence" to keep the dialer window from popping up.

It looks great. What is the "speech" checkbox for on the Modem tab?

Do you mean that the computer will say the name/number when there is an incoming call?

I have a question. I haven't installed this new CID app, but I wanted to see if my Bluetooth dongle allows multiple phones to be paired simultaneously... and if multiple bluetooth modems can be active simultaneously.

I have an Android phone (HTC EVO 3D). I can get my PC to see my phone and pair with bluetooth. However, Windows 7 does not recognize any of the devices in the phone... so no Bluetooth modem ever appears as a device. I've searched everywhere, and I can't find a bluetooth modem driver for my phone. I tried to install HTC Sync, but it only installs the USB drivers... not bluetooth.

Can anyone point me to the bluetooth modem drivers for an HTC Evo 3D?

Thanks for the info. Those are the exact errors I'm getting with my Android phone. I'll try the Microsoft download to see if it fixes the issue. I am using the driver disc that came with the dongle, but the dongle is several years old. It has Vista drivers on the disc, so I used those. Most times, Vista drivers work fine in Windows 7.

What model bluetooth dongle did you buy?
