The data is shown as provided by MSN.
PeteS457 wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:41 pm I've noticed that once a game goes Final, there is no final score displayed.
Something has changed in the source data as I have also noticed recently that final scores are no longer displayed. I'm not sure if this can be corrected.
PeteS457 wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:41 pm Are there any plans to enhance the Sports section?
Unfortunately, it would require an enormous amount of work to recreate all of the features originally included in the Sports section.
PeteS457 wrote: Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:41 pm If I just select your two EAS boxes, I don't have to go through the Ceton hoops upon reboot, MMUI+ will do the same thing automatically?
Yes, if you enable both options, EAS alerts will not be displayed and live TV will not be interrupted when an alert is received. This works for all tuners, including Silicondust, which never implemented an override option like Ceton.

Pretty impressive that you were able to "fix" the EAS alert issue, this has been plaguing WMC users for over a decade. Is this something that can be implemented with a simple patch of an existing exe or dll, or is it more complicated?

Just wondering if it's something that you need to install the complete MM-UI or if it is possible to make a small "tweak" that can do this.

Yes, I would be interested in a tweak that does not require complete MM-UI as well.

It involves patching files, but the specific modifications vary between versions of WMC, which the app automatically determines when making the changes.

As noted, there are two different settings for EAS handling. The option "Ignore EAS Force-Tune Requests" does not require you to enable the theme or anything else in the app if you would like to keep your setup as-is. However, since it is one of the Advanced features, it requires an activation code and is available only to contributors ($15), whose support helps maintain development of the project. The other option, "Hide EAS Information Bar," which hides the overlay containing scrolling text, does require the theme to be enabled because it uses the updated resources contained in the UI+ theme.

I was getting the error codes when trying to update resources within the older software, similar to the previous poster.
Instead of updating resources in my old version of MMUI, I downloaded it directly from the website.
The install went fine with that route.

Everything seems to work fine and dandy, thanks for the update!

I've noticed that after a few days of getting Rotten Tomatoes scores with the new version (1.3), the past few days I've not been getting them. The RT check box is still selected and I stopped and restarted the server just in case that had something to do with it, still no RT scores. I'm not sure what could have changed on my system. Is MMUI+ dependent on other settings within the WMC, e.g., Tasks/Settings/Automatic Download Options? RT scores was working - and then they just stopped. (I have a connection to the internet and I am getting updates to the Interests strip.)

Can confirm that RT information has gone away again for me also.

Another question; I guess it's because MS turned off the extended information but I used to love the 'Similar Movies' tab when viewing Movie Details, was great for finding new films to watch but this no longer shows. Is there any way this could be re-instated?

It would require someone to replicate the server that used to provide this data. Or some other way to populate the data.

I don't know if anyone captured the protocol used to exchange this data, but if not then I would guess it would have to be reverse engineered in some way.

This server would either have to be hosted on the Internet somewhere, or run on you own local system (perhaps the HTPC itself). The server would need to get the information needed to respond to queries from WMC from third party systems such as Schedules Direct, thetvdb.com, etc. It would then massage that data in to the format needed by WMC and respond to the query.

This is probably something that would have been easier to reproduce when the service was still in production so that you could monitor the network activity when it was in use. But now that it is shut down, it probably would take much more effort and skill to implement.

It's probably unlikely that anyone would put in this effort at this point to research and develop this, but who knows? Maybe someone would see it as an interesting challenge...

Version 1.3.1 of ModernMedia UI+ fixes handling of data from Rotten Tomatoes and also restores all available leagues, current game status and final scores in the Sports section.

Unfortunately, as Space mentioned, it would not be an easy task to recreate this component.

I haven't been getting Weather data from MSN for over two weeks now. It's just blank when I select the Weather section. Can anyone confirm that I'm not the only one? Thanks.

I took my annual look at ModernMedia UI+.

I'm impressed you found a solution to the third-party tile issue. This is the one thing that bugs me about my own theme.

However, the ModernMedia theme still has those blue elements of the original theme.

Is there a way to prevent ModernMedia UI+ automatically applying it's theme on first run?

If you add a string value named Build to the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ModernMedia\UI+ and set it to the current build (200904), it should prevent the theme resources from being applied on first run.

The weather and sports bar are no longer working.

They're just blank. Is there a fix for this?

This is due to upstream changes in the data structure. It will require a new release of UI+ to fix.
