I get the same results when my provider (Cox) was pushing PKEY1.5.3_F.p.1301 (TA is on STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.2001) what is strange was I updated to the last beta (not current with legacy protection removed) in hopes of finally being able to pull in the cablecard update... the update did refuse on the prior and continued to refuse on the beta... I want to say the beta was responding to updates being pushed out, as the timing seemed right, by locking up usually in the maintenance window, but it locked up in such a way that I must reset and no longer see any logs to verify an attempt to push out firmware. Funny thing is the instant I reverted, the cablecard firmware did update. I did try going to the beta again and it wouldn't last more than 3 days without resetting, only 1 if I visited that page... reverted and had a month of no problems.

For some reason I thought the 2.x.x firmware was "only" for the 908 to mainly to allow 8 streams.

Your right, but it also applies to the 800/1/2 cards as well. With the change the CA stream tab looks like this:

This also shows the Ceton problem of Sync Cnf timeouts which causes a break in viewing or recording with a subscription required banner. Been working on that for two years.

I had to roll back the FW Ceton to 14.4.6.21 since that seems to be the only thing that works here now.

The CableCARD FW version also indicates what the encryption SW is on the headend and that's why they should match. To get your card updated you either get a new card that was already updated or put it in a SD device or Tivo first and update it or try the beta with a new card. In any case my luck has been you need to get another card if the current card won't update. I moved them from Ceton to SD and Tivo and they still wouldn't update.

how do i know what CC i have?

the Ceton diag reports it as a cisco-SA card, but when i click into the card itself's diag screen, it says its a NDS card... and
cablevision sent out a NDS CC Update for tivo users with the firmware VGUARD3.0.7_F.p.0701 Build Date: Nov 6 2014 , my firmware under the ceton isVGUARD3.0.7_F.p.0601 - October 2013.. do you know if that CC update is only for tivos, or should i be asking for that update to get pushed to my ETH's CC?

Are you running the Ceton FW update with the NDS "fix"? It could be that the card tried to upgrade but couldn't if you were running older FW on the Ceton. You might need later FW on the Ceton and another cableCARD to try and see if it upgrades.

Same as 14.x, memory utilization inside the tuner (eth6) seems to slowly creep upward over time. This can be seen on the System tab. I will have to see (typically takes 3-4 weeks for this) if it starts exhibiting slow channel changes and the like once memory gets over about 21-23MB used. Sometimes I get a random reboot before then, sometimes not. But usually once it hits the low 20's, then it acts slow (i.e. channel changes), and eventually reboots if I don't do it first. In my case, I'm on Cox, with a Moto TA.

That was my experience with 13.x and 14.x, will have to see if 15.x is similar.

Looks like its common to the tuner.

ETH
Uptime 28 days 20 hours 51 minutes 56 seconds
21220/28052 kB SDRAM

PCIe T6
Uptime 2 days 0 hours 25 minutes 44 seconds
12496/28052 kB SDRAM

This might explain the problem with random reboots that I've reported to Ceton where after 24 days any once of these will just restart on its own.
Both devices are running ceton_infinitv_beta_fw_14_4_6_21.IMAGE because the latest release FW causes the tuners to restart after 18 to 24 hours.
This is TWC Cisco with TA, Southern California.

Is there a command that we can script to send to the Ceton ETH to instruct it to reboot? This would get around the problem of memory being used up. I could reboot once a day while nothing is being recorded by running a wget to send an appropriate command. Currently the only way I know of rebooting is unplugging the power.

Here's my issue with rebooting the eth6 via schedule or software. Unless you reboot the TA at the same time, I have found that sometimes you won't have a fully working TA unless you reboot both at once. If you're lucky enough to not need a TA you'd likely be ok.

Just check the TA after you reboot the ETH. Open the WebGui and go to the Tuning Adapter page (the information may not be accurate) and click on the diagnostic map and open in new Window. The Check the RF and make sure It sends and receives and has upstream, then go back to home and page two and tech the tuning resolver and make sure it is authorized and ready.

final fail safe is tune a channel (not the last two channels tuned but a new random 3rd channel) and you'll know if you're fully operational. If not start with the usb cable (unplug, replug) and if that doesn't restore it, then power cycle the TA. (references are to the Cisco TA, the Moto has different headings and locations in their diagnostic map).

Sadly, even when I go to the diag page on the Moto TA, and it seems "normal" looking, the TA may or may not work properly unless I reboot it too. So as John said, best bet is to tune a channel or two. I usually just reboot both, just for completeness, and in hopes it results in more stability for a longer time period :)

Thanks for the response.
Fortunately I do not need a TA, so this will be helpful. Based on this I found the following command reboots the ETH 6
wget -q -t 1 -T 2 -O - --post-data "cmd=reboot" http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/command.cgi
I will add this to my scripts to run once a week and hopefully be assured of not running into the memory slowdown.

So far so good here. I had the typical rough start after the update that I have after every firmware update. I usually have to do one power down / up and a couple of restarts after that. But once it was up and running I've had zero issues. I even called TWC to add some premium channels and they started working immediately.

I originally encountered the issue described in this post: Cablecard Firmware Upgrade Stalled

To resolve it, I did manually install this beta firmware (15.1.13.152) on my InfiniTV 4 USB device.

My Windows Media Center (Windows 8.1-based) HTPC has been functioning normally ever since (I did also have to obtain a new cablecard & reactivate it).

I hope this is helpful to someone.

I thought everything quit working last night. No tuners could tune. Then I finally got the SDV 1 error. So I rebooted the TA and all is well. I checked the TA menu and sure enough ANOTHER firmware update was pushed to my Motorola MTR-700 TA. It's now running version 1.40. 1.39 was pushed just a month ago to fix an issue with the TA and the newest Tivo's. So heads up if you start having issues.

As expected, memory utilization inside the eth6 is climbing steadily, after 16 days am at 19MB of memory used, will see if I start getting instability/slowness/etc soon, or a spontaneous reboot, once it gets into the 21+ range.

I am using mythtv. I have benn running this firmware for a week now, on Infinitv eth 6. The channel list is corrupted as already reported. Otherwise no problems. Many successful recordings and no failures. I have instituted a weekly reboot so no running out of memory. Thanks for getting us this update so quickly.

I'm curious too about the ETH6 random reboots. I think the longest I've gone is about 60 something days. Never kept an eye on the memory. Right now mine is at 20 days and 18692kB (still on v14.4.6.21).

I requested Comcast to upgrade my cablecard firmware. Then I noticed my entire local Gigabit network was extremely slow. Lights on switches were flashing at a great rate similar to when transferring a lot of data. The Ceton eth6 web page loading very slowly. Memory usage on the Ceton was not high. I could not get to the ceton log. Even getting from one computer to another computer on my network was very slow. The ceton was flooding my network with traffic. After 15 minutes of this I power cycled the eth6. Now all is fine. I checked, my cable card has been upgraded to PKEY1.5.3_F.p.1201 and I am receiving my channels.

Is there any reason why after a cable card upgrade the Ceton eth6 will do something strange like this? It was like a denial of service attack against my network.
