Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 2200 on Windows 10 Issues

#1

Post by Gilgamesh-au » Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:23 am

Hello
I have WinTV-HVR 2200 that was working well on Win 8.1 Media Centre, but the mother board was slowly dying and finally died; and replacements only running Win 10 I've been forced down the Win 10 upgrade path.
The problem I'm having is that the tuner card isn't being recognised by Win 10 on the new PC, I haven't even got to the point of trying it in MC so I'm not posting in that forum.
I have tried installing the latest drivers from Hauppauge but they keep coming up with no compatible device found.
Has only one else managed to get this card running in Win 10? And how?
Or is my tuner card also kaput? If so I was considering the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD as a replacement, do others have this working in MC on Win10?
I tried plugging another PCIe card into the same slot (Sound Blaster) which was recognised straight away so I'm confident the motherboard slot is not broken.

My new mother board is an ASUS ROG Strix X570 Gaming F with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor and 16GB of ram.
Windows 10 64 bit build 1909

Thanks in advance

Hi unclebun!

I visited that link and can't find where they disclaim Win 10 compatibility. The installation package (dated 2/12/2015) states "WinTV v7 installation package, version 3.9g For Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP". The associated Windows drivers are dated 7/27/2016.

It doesn't make sense that they provide drivers dated 1.5 years later than the installation files but don't provide Win10 compatibility.

I may have misread or overlooked the section where they say Win 10 isn't supported. Can you provide a direct link to their disclaimer?

Hello,
Thank you for he quick responses.
I had a look at the FAQ on the link and it lists supported OS's which does not include Win 10.
That link is for the 2250 and I have the 2200 (I think the difference is that it is the PAL version). The page here gives Win 10 drivers for it - https://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/suppor ... html#win10 which sort of indicates there is some support.

Hi

I bought second-hand HVR-2200 about 3 weeks ago. It works excellent in my Win 10 machine.

My motherboard isn't as advanced as your - Asrock H77 MVP4 with Intel i5-3470 procesor and 12 GB RAM. Windows 10 is a latest Insider compilation - Build 19640.

The tuner card works first on Hauppauge tv software WinTV 8, now WInTV 10. Also works on Windows Media Center - version WMC-V13_x64, downloaded from user technodevote from this forum. There's no major problems. From Win 10 Build about 19xxx, WMC stop playing songs from music library. But for me WMC is mainly tool fo r TV and FM radio.

Hi Speedy,
My OS build is 18363.836. Sounds like my card is broken :-(. It would be nice if I had another PC to test it in.
