Nvidia Shield 4K as WMC extender?
Anyone figured out how to get this going?
When I search for WMC + Shield all the results are just of people migrating from WMC to Shield.

Not really possible to add any new extenders as it requires the manufacturers of the device/software to certify them with Microsoft AIUI and Microsoft isn't doing that any more and neither are the device makers.

So it's not as simple as adding an existing app?
Dang, okay thanks.

You should be able to use Kodi with server wmc extension. At least I assume Kodi runs on shield.
Not as good as an extender but gives you some capabilities.

I forgot about Kodi as an extension. I never tried it before.
I could just put it on my PC instead of the Shield.
I'm just trying to think of ways to watch WMC on my HTPC which won't run WMC on itself.
thank you

Hey cool, I set up a Win7 virtual machine running WMC.
Then installed the ServerWMC software.
Then installed Kodi 19.4 on my primary WIn10 HTPC.
Then installed the ServerWMC client extension in Kodi.
And now I can watch live or recorded tv on my HTPC via Kodi.
It was all very simple and quick to install. Default options across the board worked fine.
You don't get the WMC interface though, unfortunately. It's still a Kodi interface.
And I haven't done any real testing other than play an OTA channel just now without issue.

Now to decide whether I want to go all out and get my HDHomeRun Prime connected to Spectrum cablecard for all the DRM channels.

It might be possible with virtual here (To pass usb remote commands over the network), and some kind of RDP client for the shield. It would be interesting to see if it works, especially if it connects to MCX accounts.

Basically do something similar to this but add in virtual here for full remote support. I'm not sure if that will pass 5 channel audio though.
