Do you get a credit from your cable provider?

I was wondering if those with cable card tuners are getting a credit for using your own equipment instead of the Cable company's. I have had a Ceton cable card tuner since 2011 and used to get a $2.50/mo credit but now my bill (Comcast) just shows a check mark next to the caption "Customer owned equipment". I don't see how a check mark gets me a credit(!)

Hmm, I am on Comcast and I have 2 Cable cards and get two 2.50 credits and my bill shows -5.00 for customer owned equipment. Now I also own my modem and router and I don't know if that is factored in there or not.

I used to have Comcast for years with a couple cablecards rented. It was a $9.99 charge/card with a $2.50 "Customer-owned equipment" credit per card. So each card was $7.50 to rent.
I now have Verizon FIOS and they have a flat $5/cablecard fee.

The cost per card and any credits are market based and may vary by region.

If I were you, I would call Comcast and ask what happened to the credit. They may very well have gotten rid of it and are just charging you the full $9.99 "Additional cable outlet" fee for the card.
...AND COMCAST SUCKS!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Comcast with HDHomeRun. I’m in an HOA that has an agreement with Comcast so things have shifted quite a bit. Early on I had to pay $1.50/month to rent the card. Then they upgraded the contract and included a SetTopBox instead of just the DTA’s and I was getting a $1.50/month credit until it hit 15.00 and then it dropped and I had them cut me a check for the balance. I do think that since they are including newer equipment for what is included that they have stopped crediting people.
Good Luck!

I have cashed a lot of checks over the years, but hard to cash a check mark, right?
