"SWITCH TO AN ALTERNATIVE auto clicker word unscrambler jumble solver TV PROGRAM GUIDE PROVIDER

Starting in January 2020, Microsoft is retiring its Electronic Program Guide Service.
To continue receiving TV Program Guide information on your Windows Media Center, you may configure an alternative TV listing provider."
Wow, I actually wasn't expecting that. I guess I'm going to have to step up my game and get serious about adding additional languages.

Does MS suggest any alternative TV listing providers to configure?
What other issues exist that could 100% kill the ability of Windows Media Center to continue to be used with cablecard tuners and copy protected channels?

Switch to using EPG123 with Schedules Direct and continue to receive a channel guide that's probably more reliable then the current one provided. The downside is that Schedules Direct costs $25 a year

If $25/year counts as a "downside," you probably shouldn't be spending the money on electricity to run the computer in the first place.

I don't personally think it's a downside, but come January, you know there will people that will think that

Yeah. I don't get the push back on this.

That's less than 50 cents a week, or about $2.08 per month. The majority of people "waste" a lot more than this every month on useless items. In our case we gave up pizza for one month out of the year to pay for our subscription. The only outcome... a bit healthier lifestyle and a robust and reliable EPG.

I don't get it either, but some people simply abhor monthly fees of any amount.

I'd hate to see them react to the grocery bill, then. Pay a monthly cost to eat, or else die. Hmmmm....

And so it begins... It's gotta be FREE!

It would be interesting (but not possible) to see how this shakes out over the next few months. Will people go to EPG123, EPG Collector, zap2xml, something else, or simply abandon WMC, and what will they abandon it for?

Planning to add a new Win10 PC and install a new Hauppauge TV tuner card http://www.hauppage.com/pages/products/ ... uners.html with their current WinTV software. Tried WinTV some years ago, nowhere near as convenient as WMC, but it worked. Using WinTV was kinda like scheduling an old VHS recorder. Trusting the 2020 version of WinTV will be improved, not that there will be a viable alternative.
You can still continue to use Windows 7 and WMC, and use EPG123 for the guide. Why stop using one of the best programs Microsoft ever developed?
Already needed more storage, faster processor, etc., for making videos, storing them, thousands of pics, music files, etc., so it was time for a new PC. Will continue using my old Win7 PC and manually scheduling recordings using WMC until the new PC gets here. Trusting Hauppauge WinTV v.10 is better than their older version I tried some years back. The old WinTV worked, but was nowhere near as user friendly and convenient as WMC.
