Isn't this the new feedback site:

http://xbox.uservoice.com/ or is the above the same site? The reason I ask is because the top search for media center extender shows only 341 votes not 9,354 votes.

Well, if you don't like the feedback in the first thread, just create a new one! Genius Microsoft! Just like Windows 8! <dripping sarcasm>

MS just announced DLNA and even MKV playback for XBOX ONe.

No WTV support - that is Microsoft own TV recording format for Media center.

While only 6% of the windows user base, this is still comical their own TV format (required to record cable TV with a cable card in the USA) is not supported!!! Was on 360!!! It is supported on every free media player on PC!

While I agree that it is stupid that MS hasn't put WMC functionality into the XB1, what I don't understand is why they don't just make the WIndows Media Center Pack available for Purchase/Install on the XBOX One...

The XBOX One has the whole three Operating Systems, one of which is supposedly a stripped-down version of Windows 8, so why not just make the Media Center Pack available...? MS could develop a "slice" hardware expansion module that would attach/sit under the XBOX One and have USB connectivity for WMC-dedicated hard drive(s) and also a slot for Ceton/SiliconDust/etc to develop tuner modules that could be inserted...

Seems sooooo logical to me...

Of course, I'd also argue that the Windows Media Center Pack should Purchase/Install-able on Windows Server 2012 (Essentials?) such that you could add WMC recording capabilities to your server and then have 360/XBOX1 extenders elsewhere (sad that third party extenders never really took off b/c MS didn't promote WMC well and the hardware of the extenders was weak to say the least).

A year has gone by since my initial request was posted. Over 13,000 votes to my original request (http://xboxvideo.uservoice.com/forums/2 ... er-support) and almost 3,000 votes on the new feedback site (http://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/251646 ... a-extender). No recent Microsoft comments. Still hoping they keep supporting the Media Center community for a while. I guess we'll see when Windows 10 is released if they still include Media Center if we can hold on for a bit longer.

I voted up on both the links provided by jpickerell. Thanks for taking the time to create and promote the XB1 MC extender functionality feature requests!

Microsoft is adding backward compatibility to the XBox One to you can play your XBox 360 games on the Xbox One.
Does this mean that the XBox 360 "Extender" functionality will be feasible on the XBox One for Windows Media Center?
Are Games so different than Apps?

I voted on both links.

Since Microsoft has stopped selling the WMC app for Windows 8 and 8.1, seems unlikely they would do anything to add the Xbox 360 extender to Xbox one.

Rather than doing anything to expand support for the WMC Extender app, it's more likely Microsoft will do something that will cause that app to stop working before the end of mainstream Windows 8.1 support (January 2018), possibly as early as next year when they start ramping down Xbox 360 support.

For those of us using the WMC extenders for watching live and recorded DRM programming, when WMC or the Xbox 360 Extender app stop working, it looks like our only option will be something based on the SiliconDust DVR software, or to a proprietary solution (TiVo or cable/satellite DVR).
