Also in other off topic nail biting Microsoft news:

Looks like another market strategy success story MS, well done.

Imagine getting a BSOD while you're driving. I once had a TV that ran on Windows CE. It did, in fact, get BSOD's. Every couple of weeks, like clockwork, it would BSOD while simply watching TV. I found, by accident, that if the Ethernet cable was unplugged, it would not get a BSOD.

Ha! Imagine having an autonomous car running windows! Now that is a scary thought!

I was in a London hotel a few months ago and happened to look at the TV when it did this:

It had fixed itself by the time I was back from the pub next door, which is all that mattered.

Hi all -

Today following the 2014 Microsoft E3 Press Conference Briefing, a new Xbox Feedback site was launched. They mentioned in the video introduction during the conference that Microsoft looks at a number of communities for feedback (Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Forums, etc.), but that can be challenging and there is not a great way to prioritize the feedback for most requests.

Thus the new Xbox Feedback site (http://xbox.uservoice.com/). On it, someone has already posted in the Live TV section about adding Extender functionality to the Xbox One. You only get to vote for it once (you seem to have unlimited number of overall votes, but can only vote for a topic once). It is here: http://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/251610 ... a-extender

Please take a minute and vote for the suggestion and help the Xbox One become the first NEW extender for WMC since Windows 8 launched in 2012!!!

Thanks!

[Moderator note: topic merged; please search before posting]

A $500 power draining media extender? I am out. No vote here. Good luck. Make it a Media Server and I am in.

BTW Welcome to the forum :) I see you got a nice 'Moderator Merge Welcome'.

:) Thanks IownFIVEechos. I've been a reader for years, just didn't have much to contribute until now. I thought a NEW (and seemingly primary) voting site would be best put in a new thread for visibility, especially since this thread is not really talking about the topic anymore, but alas, I'm not a mod.

There are several other postings on the new voting site for full DLNA and Media Server support - I'm sure one of those would fit your fancy too!

Wow, the old suggestion site currently at 9246 votes. 7556 more than the next favourite, lol. I have voted on the new one WastinMyFlavor.

Should've named his nick WastinMyTime, because that's what we're talking about here. It's never going to happen.

It can't hurt to vote.

It doesn't hurt. But just like in a real election, at least in the UK, your vote will make no difference.

(Not that I understand why someone would want a $500 extender when there already exists a perfectly good $100 one)

I don't think I would buy a $500 extender either, but some people would buy the XB1 for gaming... and Media Center extender is a nice plus.

The upside is that if Microsoft decides to make the XB1 an extender for Windows Media Center, then they'll be forced to continue support (and maybe even upgrade) Media Center for as long as they support the XB1.

Now, there's wishful thinking!

I still see the XB1 becoming the Q for the media platform if they did do something. They run virtual machines on it anyways, might as well create a media server machine too.

Yes, I realize that there's a slim chance. But... if it happens... then they will have to support it.

Well aren't we a Negative Nancy... I don't see how voting this up is going to hurt you, even if you don't want the feature. Any vote for anything media center related is a GOOD THING for the WMC community. It lets MS know that we're still here, and we still want them to support it any way they can or will.

For me - I play games on my XB360, and then when I'm ready to watch some TV, I flip over to WMC and use it as an extender. I plan to get the XBone at some point in the next 6 to 8 months, but it would be a HUGE selling feature for me to have extender capabilities. If extender capabilities were available, I'd go buy one tomorrow.

This isn't a call for everyone to replace their current extenders with a $500 power hog -becuase that's just silly. This is a call to the community to actively make their voice heard. For the community's sake, simply up-voting isn't killing anyone.

Is extender capabilities on XBone likely? Probably not. But, you won't know until you ask... and MS won't know you want it until you say something.
