Hi folks, as you can see the site is a bit empty at the moment, hopefully that will change over the coming days and weeks!

On behalf of our team I'd like to say thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you regularly!

A special thanks to makryger who has done all of the hard work in getting us up and running, there would literally be no site if it wasn't for him!

We hope that you will spend a bit of time looking around and any suggestions that you have are very welcome.

We want this to be a community forum and it can evolve into whatever the community wants.
Rob.

I'm already happier. This is more like it. I see no reason people won't move here. It actually feels like TGB we all know and love and if it catches on I am sure it will only get better.

Oi oi Savaloy (sorry that was a specific British pun!).

This is more like it! Thanks Rob and Makryger. I hope this site will evolve into a place we can all be at home in.

I'd like to introduce myself;
Born in Holland, I lived my growing up years in the UK, now residing in Ontario, Canada. I have a beautiful wife and a happy life. We own a restaurant, an Inn and I have a small IT business (I support local businesses and home clients). The folks I mix with love life, and everyone gives everyone else the time of day. This is a good place to be.

I run a reasonable MC rig, that gives me no problems. It's a little old, but still okay. An Asus P5Q with a Q6700 CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB O/S 64GB SSD O/S, 3TB REC. I am fortunate to have a Ceton InfiniTV4 tuner installed and running smoothly. This is rare for us in Canada, so mum's the word!
Please use this thread to tell us about yourselves.

Everyone is welcome, and we want to hear all about you!

So glad that a new forum has sprung up to replace that abomination that Microsoft calls a forum!

Ahhh, this is more like it. it sounds like makryger has once again delivered something very awesome! I know holidayboy had a part in it, and for the two of them and anyone else that was involved, much thanks!

Yes, I agree much thanks indeed. I have only been on here less than 24 hours and I think I have posted here more than I have in the last month on the WE site. Only thing that stinks is we loose our reputation count from the original GB site. Might sound kind of silly but i used to kind of like knowing i was "special" .. I worked awful hard to get there and starting over is kind of a bummer.. But this new site is a HUGE improvement. Thanks for letting me know it launched Mark and holidayboy! I am Really hoping this takes off.

Welcome!

It's still all looking a bit sparse at the moment but hopefully we'll start getting a bit more traffic soon ;)

I'll bite since there was a plea in another thread. ;)

My name is Greg and I've been a Media Center user for about 4 years now starting with Vista. My experience with Media Center has been one of delight and at times pure annoyance. In the end I love it, but as many have stated about us being enthusiasts I have to agree and don't recommend it to people who aren't techies since I know I'd have to support it and have enough trouble keeping my wife happy.

I recently moved to a Core i5 2nd gen. I know it is overkill for HTPC, but I am toying with light gaming too. I have my machine in a closet and am using a brite-view air synchHD wireless to stream to my TV in the adjacent room. It works fairly well, but I do admit the wireless can be a bit flakey at times.

I live in Cary, North Carolina (US) and have 4 tuners through Time Warner and my InfiniTV card. I am very pleased to see the progression of the new TGB as it was a place I visited often. There is still some good content happening on the expert forum at MS, but I just hate the look and feel of that site and find it so clumsy for a forum software. It is like they deliberately took a good concept of dr very other forum software out there and said, "hey, everyone is used to that format which works well...let's make it messy and difficult to navigate...yeah, that will win people over on moving to a new site.". WTF? really? Needless to say, this place looks great and already feels like home. great work guys!
