Hey!
Well some of you will have been fortunate enough to know me from the old TGB (I can hear some of you shouting UNFORTUNATE already!!) and like many of you I have defected here since MS killed the old TGB. I used to work in local governement but got out of the sinking ship 4 years ago and now am self employed supporting PC's for private and small business customers...it beats working for a living
I have just reached the grand old age of 40 but still look 30 of course!! Am a bit of a sci-fi fan and I hate political correctness and will never adhere to it!
I got into Media Center by pure accident... I wanted a way to stream music and videos from my main PC to my TV and tried a D-Link unit, and a Philips Stremium. Of course, contrary to their respective official blurb, not one would meet my needs. Whilst doing a bit of research (in works time of course, thats what its there for ), I came across this thing called Media Center 2005. Bizarrely, whilst I had been using PC's for years, I had never heard of this. So I bought a few parts, and built my first Media Center... and have never looked back, well ok I have looked back hundreds of times but stuck with it anyway. I know this might sound strange but seeing a television programme on my TV which was going through a bog standard computer took me back to when I had my first computer - the best in the world ever... Speccy 48k!! It was mind-blowing for me!! Aaahhh the good old days!! I really must order myself a life from Amazon!!
Anyways, if you are still with me, thanks and congratulations. And here's hoping this site goes from strength to strength!

Thanks Rich. I gave up on the new forum too. It's a shame because I got the impression that Paul was working his stones off trying to get everything sorted. It was just poorly designed, buggy and slow.StumpyBloke wrote:Welcome back Aaron, tried finding you on WE to tell you but got so p'd off with it I gave up!!
This site however, it really is a joy to use and it's great to see the old band back together. Now... did anyone invite cVariable to the party?

This is a fresh start.
We haven't set any forum rules regarding conduct - and I hope we don't need to!

Yeah Paul is a great guy doing a great job on a thankless task and my full respect goes out to him for so respectfully putting up with all the grief he gets!! Poor lad!!
Now then, cV... good question... Rob?

You're absolutely right, Rob. But it was meant in jest - something of an in-joke between Rich and me.holidayboy wrote: Now then boys, bygones and all that

My first day I gave Rob a warning!!!!
Just seeing what it would do but apparently a bit of a faf to remove.
Nothing like starting out a working relationship on the right foot!!

Think I'm fairly well known from the old TGB, you may remember me from such threads as hacking the DLL to enable H264 in Vista after the time bomb. This new site is a lot quicker and easier to use, thanks to those who set it up!
Currently using a Media Center system hidden away in my garage (Core i5 based) with about 9TB of storage. Use 2 Xbox 360s and 1 Linksys 2100 as Extenders to watch round the house.
