Except for windows 10, reads as if guide data will disappear.

foil-wrapped clickbait. Unwrap it and use the foil for a hat.

Microsoft cripples Windows Media Player on Windows 7 -- a seemingly dirty tactic to increase Windows 10 upgrades
You see, the company has decided to purposely cripple both Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center on Windows 7, and Windows Media Center on 8.x. Microsoft will stop supplying metadata for media through these much-used programs. As you can guess, Windows Media Player on Windows 10 will continue to offer this capability. Hmm, I wonder why that is...

I hope i do not lose the TV Guide in WMC, and if so i hope EPG123 will still work on Windows 7 WMC.

Honestly, its not really THAT big of a deal, its just a slap in the face for people that still use their old products. I'm looking at JRiver to tag all of new music but I'm hoping someone can step in and replace the functionality of the additional metadata lookup for WMC. Its pretty shady to break something that can still work on if it were left alone, and this makes me look at windows 10 with even more suspicion.

Well, I guess they cant cripple it if you don't take Windows updates.... I guess for music meta data, we will need a new program to populate images and other parts.
It seems like WMC will need to be re-assembled by other programs....sigh..
