Ars Technica analysis of XBOX app usage when signed in Live

The numbers for Media Center (and many other apps) are impossibly low. Works out to between 1 and 2 360s in WMC on average at any given time across their sample that is supposed to include the majority of users. Also says the average time spent in the app is less than one minute per user in the 5 month sample period. Yet more evidence that the telemetry MS cited for abandoning WMC in 2011 is broken.

I have between 1 and 2 XBOX 360's on at about all time and in Media Center (the third one is usually turned off)... Just never bothered with XBOX Live. Do most people have Live activated?

I would think yes, because a) silver accounts are free and b) you need it for all the internet streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, HBO Go, etc)

I have 3 Xbox 360's running Media Center almost all day, every day.
