I work in the TV VOD and Linerar broadcast industry and this article is right on the money. People have become really spoiled when it comes to stb and they quite literally want to press the On button and have the TV playing. NO amount of delay seems acceptable, not even 10 seconds.
HTPC's are computers and people are cool with a delay, in fact Ive taken to shutting My PC down now I have a SSD. From cold i am into media center in about 50 seconds which is fine by me.
Its really is shocking how serious people take their television!!
