You misunderstand what that warning is. It is saying on 10/4 (tomorrow) you had more recording requests than tuners. That was the conflict.

Sadly my machines are somewhat power hungry and it is far more energy efficient to run them briefly for recording/playback duties rather than leave a machine on 24/7.

I wanted to update the board. Gary was able to help me. In my case my WMC database had gotten corrupt. Not sure why, but it wasn't the guide data (Schedules direct or EPG123). Updating to the latest version and rebuilding the database fixed my issue. Gary was patient and helpful. Thank you.

This happens sometimes when you are downloading data while SD is updating their database from upstream. The schedule listings identify a program with MD5 hash of XXXXXXXXX, you don't have it cached EPG123 requests that program but it receives the program with an MD5 hash of YYYYYYYY and you already...

The EPG123 Client doesn't need Schedules Direct to be able to use the tweaks for guide layout or anything. For the HDHR2MXF program, you cannot change the logos. It makes the mxf file from the xmltv file downloaded from SiliconDust (with their links to logos).

I tried your suggestion of clicking the Restore deleted scanned channels . A popup displayed, but nothing was listed.

To restate what I did originally....

Well rebooting only worked for a couple of tuning tries. Weather Channel also same issue. Turned out out to be Xfinity and the man in bucket truck has now remedied.

Delete your current scheduled task and create a new one. You might want to change your task time as well away from exactly 12:00AM.

Your task is evidently very old and is pointed to the wrong place.

Just a warning that I've had my WMC database become corrupted when importing the guide while recordings are in progress. It crashed WMC and caused an automatic rebuild of the database.

I've done it plenty of times without this happening, so it is rare. I think it may happen when the shows you are...

I think I found the file I was looking for - it is in C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.xmltv. Looks like the task is being run when you Save and Execute , I just didn't know where to look for the updated file(s). False alarm, thanks folks!

It sounds like a tuner could be failing possibly. Can you determine which tuner is is use when the recording stops? i.e. is it always the same tuner? I think the stopped by another component message may be misleading as WMC might think that if a tuner stops responding.

Nothing has changed about WMC not doing channel scanning for ATSC 1.0 in the VHF range (2-13) with the rolled out nationwide release market-by-market of ATSC 3.0 NextGen channels. WMC still only looks for channels in the UHF range (14-63). And you still have to manually add any ATSC 1.0 channels...

It looks like the response from Schedules Direct is completely empty for Italy. Could be either Schedules Direct or Gracenote. Submit a ticket with Schedules Direct to look into it.

For determining how much drive space is allocated and used, epg123 uses the registry and drive usage/space used. Everything else for programs that have been flagged for possible deletion or recordings to be cancelled, rescheduled, or tuner conflicts come from the WMC database.

Actually, I just checked that out... why does that even exist? All it does is swap the channel numbers. That would be very confusing for OTA users.

I agree using the notification tray is best. The notification tray will run your scheduled task, so it will actually do 3 things... update the guide, verify the task exists, and the scheduled task will run.

That is definitely weird. Epg123.exe doesn't do anything that requires elevated privileges. If you right-click the epg123.exe file and select 'Properties' and the 'Compatibility' tab, is the 'Run this program as an administrator' checked? If so, uncheck it and click 'OK'.

So your service was failing to start as well... the UAC prompt was to start the service which the configuration gui checks for when you open it.

This is why I released 1.8.1.6 to help with this.

That warning logged by the client is just saying there was a warning generated when the EPG123 update tool ran, so to see what that warning was, you have to look further up in the log file to see the log output from the update tool, which generally will have run immediately before the client tool.

You just have to read the log entries you posted. The entry tells you which station.

There seems to be one single channel on different days' log over the past month, no real pattern.

My managed switch isn't as cool as I thought it was.

So, I ended up flashing OpenWRT onto my four-port router.
Then, I used this video to set up VLAN's.

I put my WMC computer (PC1) and my two HDHomeRun (PC2 & PC3) and my EPG123...

It is kind of invisible in the client since it is mostly greyed out when there is an existing task. Totally understand that.

Scheduled task worked great today. But I saw another user had a similar problem and you put out a new version. So I installed that and deleted/created a new task. It should be fine. Thanks!

Update EPG123. Version 1.7.1.12 does not automatically correct for malformed json returns from SD.

Image downloads appear to be mostly behaving currently. Are you still seeing problems downloading the images?

There was a method which would scrape the Zap2it website, but I don't believe it works anymore. These methods often breach the EULA and can fail suddenly if changes are made to the website.

As a follow up to this change, Freeview are now swapping the SD and HD channel numbers over on certain supported devices. Apparently this is using a feature called Channel List Management which I suspect is done on the local device based on data received. So far the channel numbers on the Schedules...

This may not be related at all to your issue but I run Recording Broker on two PCs to broker recordings between the two PCs (surprise!) and, in recent years, found that garbage collection never completed if the Recording Broker service is running.

I don't know what happened at 9:27:07, but at 9:37 and 9:47 you weren't able to negotiate a SSL/TLS connection which is required to login to SD.

It was there and un-delete did the trick for the FreeView channel. Not sure why it wouldn't un-delete the satellite channel but I can live with that.

You can't add tuners to your setup, all tuners have to be setup at the same time. Every time you perform TV Setup, whatever you had before is deleted and you start over.

The rebuild WMC database button seems to work, I think. There's no more error in the log.

The only way to completely clear the MS guide from the database is to perform a clean start setup that will delete the database and start fresh. Which means you will have to run through TV Setup.

Your guide is updating, but you are getting an error during the automatch routine. Open the client, it has some ability to repair merged channels. You could also disable the automatch routine and that will get rid of the error as well.

The username/password is your Schedules Direct account. There is no .cfg file until you successfully login.

SchedulesDirect may only update twice per day, but I am unaware of a specific schedule or if that schedule in consistent, so without any other information, updating as late as possible seems the most prudent if your goal is to have the most updated...

Running beta shouldn't have mattered. That error is the client failing to create a new user.config file for that version. You will find them in c:\users\ \AppData\Local\GaRyan2\epg123Client.exe* folders. Within that, you will see a folder for every version of the client that you have installed....

If the installer required you to update .NET Framework to 4.6.2, then it would have aborted the EPG123 install to do that and then required a reboot. You would then have to run the EPG123 setup again to install the update.

Yay, success! I finally managed to manually download and install SP1 and that in turn allowed Windows Update to work. It took a few hours to get caught up on all the updates. Next, I used the EPG123 version update to install the newer .NET Framework and just like that, boom, it worked! Woo hoo!...

I still could use a refresher about what format of log file you need to troubleshoot a problem...

The log file is simply a text file. You can view the log file and select/copy the text to anything.

Updated EPG123 successfully, and all scheduled recordings are there. :thumbup:

In WMC|Tasks|TV|Guide|About Guide Listings, it still says the EPG123 is at version 1.3.5 (1.7.1 available) But the Client Tool top left corner tells me I have 1.7.3.

I did install the latest and rebooted, but I guess it didn't take. I thought the GUI version in the log was different than the entire EPG 123 version. (My guess was that the GUI doesn't need to be updated as often.)

I'm guessing you did a and wiped out your database? In that case, yes, your favorites get blown away. A simple rebuild database would have worked and taken only a seconds while keeping your favorites as well.

Yes, the guide is still updating. The exception is during the automatch routine. Channel 766 has no tuner associated with it. If you see 766 on the left side of the client, delete it and then undelete it... if the client didn't do that for you.

The scheduled update failed again with a different error.
This morning I opened the client gui and could not find the channel on the left, but it was on the right. I could not find a way to undelete it.
But I ran the update again and it worked....

All good ideas Gary, thanks! I am wondering if it might have been the Network as well. This is a show they have said they were not renewing, so they might have been messing with the schedule. Who knows?!

My manual recording via NextPVR worked fine anwyways.
