The current Windows 10 Previews contain WMC
Soo in theory it could be possible for somebody to port it to Windows 10 final build, but it may need to be patched in order to run
I hope somebody does this, so far I have not been able to find a suitable replacement for watching/recording TV with...

Crash2009,
I'd be curious to hear how things are working out with WMC on Win10 Pro... I've been toying with the idea of trying it out... I'd strictly be using it for OTA channels. Are you using a x64 build?
Cheers,
Justin
Not too bad. I have no experience with OTA, but I read that OTA was...

Hey all
I put this into the Windows 8 area because we are using the files ripped from Windows 8.1 (v 6.3.9600.16384) on Windows 10. I figured I would post here as I have gone over my resources and hitting a brick wall here, figured if I get a few of the fellow members here, maybe we can result in...

Is there a permanent workaround to the error message that appears when attempting to view premium channels or on some occasions non premium channels where the message states that Critical windows media files that are required for playback have been replaced.?
Thanks!

Hello folks,
Just upgraded to Win10 and installed the WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0. Then I installed HDHomeRun drivers. The quick view didn't work initially (only audio) so I also installed Windows8 codec pack. Quick view now works, windows media player is also capable of streaming live...

Problem was resolved with _v10 of media center pack and most importantly a trick to bypass a bug with HDHomeRun software:
Set the computer to sleep then wake it up, and set up live TV. For whatever reason it worked like a charm. Credit goes to mwpeterson from MDL forum.

I'm really chomping at the bit to get onto Windows 10. I've already accepted that I need to keep my Win 7 machine for WMC. If I were to get a new computer running Win10, is there a way to stream live TV from my Win7 machine to my Win10 machine? This may be a very generic question, but I am newbie...

I'm not sure how tuner sharing would work in that case. You may want to consider selling your USB tuner and getting an ethernet one. Get a Prime (or two) would also give you live tuner access via Kodi (or is it Emby?) in case the hacked version of WMC for Win 10 ever stops working.

In our environment, we have a central WMC server that drives a whole home DVR environment. The WMC has 2 SD (3 tuner) and 1 Ceton (4 tuner) CableCard boxes plus 5 Xbox 360 extenders to drive TVs throughout the house.
Before travelling, I will copy the WMC server's non-DRM Recorded TV and Videos...

Stole this from over on AVS Forums :

No. Persons who need to use Media Center should consider carefully before upgrading from their previous version of Windows. The Windows 10 upgrade will automatically remove any installations of Media Center.
So what...

Windows 10 is just about here—and many users (especially those who have been wrestling with Windows 8) are probably eager to upgrade. But even if you can get it now—the upgrade will be sent first to those who signed up for the Windows Insider beta program and then in “slow waves” to everyone...

Nope, performing the upgrade transfers/invalidates the key. All you have is a 1 month period where you can roll back to 7/8 and have it be reactivated with the old key (and then you...

I just wanted to add based on the subject of the thread:
Windows 8.1 was the official name for Windows 9. Looking at the internal version numbers, 8 and 8.1 are different kernel numbers. I'm sure it's known by now that they wouldn't use the name Windows 9 due to confusion with Windows 9x.
