Hi all,
Just a quick post to see if any of our members are willing / able to make a small donation to help cover our running costs?
I completely understand that times are hard for a lot of folks and many people are unable to offer any financial support.
Please don't feel pressured into donating...

Hi, there is no suggested donation amount - any amount is much appreciated
Thank you to everybody that has donated

I would like members to chime in if they feel the quality of their North American guide data has become worse, especially recently. Zap2it, in my view seem to be offering less and less accuracy as time goes by.
Just last night I found my HTPC re-recording three shows it had already recorded some...

How's this for a notable event? I just checked Zap2It, and it has The Walking Dead tonight as a new episode, which is incorrect. Media Center, however, does not have it scheduled to record. So for a change of pace, Zap2It is wrong, and Media Center is right. Of course, Media Center's rightness in...

Automatic Guide Update Settings

I'm new to WMC and noticed the setup for the automatic program guide requires a minimum 6 hour time window. Yet a manual update takes only a few minutes.
I'm curious why the 6 hour requirement. Does the automatic process only take place 4 times a day?
By default mine is set from 12:00am to...
Last post
It will only update once a day. This just allows you to set a window within which it will do the update. There is no downside to leaving it at the default, which means it can happen at any time.
Thank you for the information.

I'll use one example: my daughter wants to watch iCarly, on Nick, and the guide shows it to be on many, many times a day every day--but if you look at nick.com you'll see that it's not on all that much. If Nick knows what the schedule is, why doesn't our guide? Who's in charge here?

I duly notified Zp2it using their online form. By Monday 14th I saw the change had taken place on Zap2its' web listings.
It was today that I saw the update reflected...

We had a major Channel upgrade and change. Now the guide is old and isn't reflecting the new channels as well as the channels that have changed. For example, NBC and CBS which used to be 785 and 784 and have now been moved to 704 and 705. 704 and 705 don't even show up in the guide and 785 and 785...

Don't worry, when you finally do get your guide, it'll be full of errors that will cause you to record a bunch of stuff that really isn't airing (or if it is airing, shouldn't actually be recorded).

So I am a hockey fan and the NHL playoffs are on during this time of year. unfortunately, this means that WMC doesn't get a lot of lead time on getting the guide data updated with each game.
I went to watch a New Jersey Devils game tonight on MSG+ and realized that the guide had not been updated...

well that is certainly disappointing and quite annoying as my tivo ever had this problem (granted it did have many others though)

I would love to still be able to update the GUIDE DATA on the old computer.
Is there any way to transfer the DATA info from a new version of WMC...

limited connectivity usually indicates that it did not get an IP address and/or that it could not find a DNS server. Did you try to let XP try to fix it for you?
