You can't fix it. The Ceton cards have a crappy NVRAM chip. Once the chip fails, you cannot update the firmware any more. That is why they went out of business. Throw out the Ceton tuner and get a Silicondust HRHomeRun Prime.

You can't use 1 computer as a server for other computers for DRM content, having a tuner shared is no problem however only recordings made on that respective computers hard drive will work. If you were using a non cable card tuner you could do what your suggesting without any issue.

I thought of that temp issue. They hover between 59 and 65. It was much hotter at first and I did add a fan which helped. I remember talking to Ceton about it years ago. They indicated that anything below 65 would be ok.

You might try setting the various services to Manual first. They should then be started as required.

Also, as you are looking through the services list, check their dependencies to look for anything unusual, maybe in DCOM and RPC services.

The Ceton eth uses a weird cable to connect to the tuning adapter, something like a mini usb B to a full size usb B cable. I would be extremely surprised if a cable company had any of these laying around actually.

Open WMC in windowed mode. Open up the Ceton Diagnostic Tool, go to the CableCARD tab. Recreate the tuner problem in WMC. Does CableCARD Entitlement turn red when you get the no tuner? If so remove and reseat your CableCARD. Plan to go get a new CableCARD.

Don't think so. It's been a while since I dealt with ClearQAM, but if the scan/setup completed, the manual adjustment should do the trick.

Obviously the data ID should not be changing as long as the CableCard remains in the Ceton Tuner. In fact once the two are paired you can move them (as a pair) from one computer to another without impacting the Data ID. I would therefore suspect either the CableCard or the Ceton Tuner as faulty....

Update: it's been 2 months and I've had no issues - I ended up moving the Ceton Infinitv 6 PCIe to another PCIe slot (and then I had to re-configure WMC tuner setup) and since then the problem appears to be solved. This is the first time, ever, that I have had WMC running rock solid.

My cable comes into my house to a closet in the second floor, then to a splitter. One line takes a long travel downstairs to the living room to a wall plate. then a 15 foot rg6 to the media center PC and the IFTV4.

Honestly, it sounds more like the cable company banging on your CableCards than a problem all of the sudden with 3 different Ceton devices. Or a bad firmware load they may have pushed to your Tuning Adapters.

Not bad. It's all relative to your internal PC temp and ambient temp. You should be fine. Test with all four tuners recording for a while.

The channels I think change to be numbered in the 1000s on Comcast. Channel 1995 just turned up in my area, but no other channels made switch afaik. If you don't have Comcast channel 1995 nothing will be in mpeg4.
