Hi all,
Just a quick post to see if any of our members are willing / able to make a small donation to help cover our running costs?
I completely understand that times are hard for a lot of folks and many people are unable to offer any financial support.
Please don't feel pressured into donating...

Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for suggestions for a good IR blaster that can be controlled from a PC or Raspberry Pi to primarily turn on and off an air conditioner remotely. I'm also looking for any suggestions on software that will match up with the IR blaster.
Thank you everyone for your time and...

Anybody on here have, or know, anybody that has this Home Automation System? I've compared them all and think this one best suites my needs! Any personal experiences/impressions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Is anyone using mControl for Windows Media Center and Foscam IP camera's ?
If so I would love to hear from you, having some problems setting up my first Foscam IP camera with the MCML mcontrol add-in for WMC.
Thanks

Is mControl even still being developed? Last time I emailed their support to submit various bug reports on numerous occasions, I never got any replies. And they were normally pretty good at getting back to me quickly, because of The Media Center Blog and the coverage I had given them in my posts....

Has anyone tried getting Zwave alerts displayed on your media center? I'm looking for something that will display an alert if someone is at my front door or if the garage door is left open or if a zwave device battery is low.

Glad I could help a little. Thanks for the page reference as well, was not aware of the MCEcontroller alternative, might be worth a look. Good luck!

LED Accents behind TV?

i was walking through an IKEA the other day, and saw a very neat combination of a wall-mounted TV, with LED strip lighting behind the TV. Not only does it look cool, but apparently it is better for your eyes. (Here's one example on a website, although I probably would want a neutral white light:...

That's exactly where I put my relay. It's about the same size as yours. I made a larger notch at the end of the plastic case so that the USB cable could come out the same hole with the power cable.

I already have some Insteon devices that are NOT connected to or controlled by a computer. Basically, I have a keypad by the back door that controls lights out by the pool. I've always wanted to expand this, but never did it.
Now that I have installed Event Ghost on my HTPC, I am thinking more...

Can the hub talk X10? If so consider using the X10 protocol for specific actions/events.
EG can communicate X10 bidirectionally through an old serial CM11A. You would use the power lines to communicate X10 between EG and the hub instead of IP. Basic but functional. I used a similar setup when I ran...

Hey gang-- I know this is an on-going question; but, figured-- new forum, let's see where we currently stand!

I haven't heard of airfoil but have to look into that. Yes it allows you to synch multiple devices at once. It is very nice because you can Multi-select any of the devices. It also works to control a PC with iTunes on it I think if airfoil doesn't work. Also there is a new beta AirPlay app for...

Hi
I'm looking to switch energy supply companies soon, Eon and EDF offer free energy monitors. EDF ECO Manager and EON Energy Fit
With the EDF one you get 3 applicance plugs and then you can turn on/off those appliances with the Energy Monitor, could be handy to kill the standby on the wall...

Yeah I imagine there is a novelty factor with these monitors.
Solar Panels they not still very expensive? I live on the top of a hill and two bungalows below us have solar panels on the roofs. I am not currently an EON customer but they are sending someone round to the house to do a survey for...

What's your preferred controller?
I used to use Homeseer, but it got a bit too commercial for me.
Now I use an ISY99 controller, and it's fantastic. I don't push too many automation tasks through it - a lot of lighting, mostly using Insteon switches.
Interested in your preferred 'brains' and also...

I have an ISY 99i Pro with about 40 devices (thermostats, lighting, keypads, irrigation control, garage door control, motion sensors). It has a REST interface that is way easy to interface with. If only I new how to program UIs in Media Center.

Hi
I wonder if anyone can advise if there are any x10 window/door sensors that can be used on an x10 home automation system?
The plan is to have a small number of windows monitored with these sensors, along with the front and back door, the idea being that if any of these contacts are broken, it...
