However, Landdolphin's Meteor Remote Control app for Windows Phone 7 appears to be out and available now as of 4 June 2011!

What does everyone use to convert WTV files?

I have a Motorola Xoom and I have had lots of trouble finding an app that will convert my HD recorded movies for use on the tablet. I tried DVD Catalyst and it is a really nice app, but it chokes on most 1080i content (possibly related to the 29/59 frame rate bug). The best I have come up so far is...
Last post
You don't need any conversion software - wtv is an mp4 file, just change the .file extention to mp4 - filename.wtv to filename.mp4
Depends on what your input source is. WMC just takes the source and puts it a wtv/dvr-ms wrapper. My source is OTA via 2 hdhomerun tuners. 1 creates mp2 (straight...

Roku channel for WMC?

rakosnik » Sun Oct 27, 2019 8:39 pm
Is there a WMC for Roku?
I have a Windows 7 HTPC running WMC. I got a TV about a year ago with Roku built in and it would be cool if there was a WMC Roku channel that I could use to get the Roku to interface with WMC on my HTPC on the other end of my house.

My HTPC has 3 HD tuners recording lots of primetime shows. I'd like to watch those recorded shows on my Android devices. What player app can natively play WTV files over wifi/LAN? Please exclude transcoding/streaming options such as orb, plex.

Yes VLC app for Android/IOS does it very well, for local or home network wtv files (with subtitles :)
It is supposed to have the same feature for Windows Mobile but the image freezes

iOS ending 32-bit support - watch out Remote Potato

First post
It looks like Apple is planning to end support for 32-bit apps in a future release or iOS - most probably in iOS 11 this Autumn.
This will mean old apps like Remote Potato won't work unless they get recompiled for 64-bit (unlikely).
Last post
It has now been confirmed that 32-bit apps will not run in iOS 11. This is available in beta form now, with the final public release available in September. Remote Potato is still being offered for sale with no warning.

I'm pretty sure (I haven't looked at the available code of the original version, and the newer version hasn't released code like he should on a regular basis) that this is more about bandwidth decisions as opposed to any other thing, and it just isn't built into the code. See if you can get him to...

Just in case I'm not the last person to find this software, I just downloaded Splashtop. It lets you remote to your PC with full audio and video. I haven't played too much with it yet but I just watched an HD video over remote desktop. Unfortunately Media Center doesn't seem to work.

Same here, have been using the free version of splashtop on my android tv box to use my desktop on it, but just picked up the HD remote version among other free apps on amazon today. Some good deals. Ravensword I've heard is a really good game so grabbed that and sonic.

So basically MB is similar to Plex in that it's pretty useless for Recorded TV due to lack of metadata. Remote Potato still has its advanatges.

No, the issue with HD is the type of encoding. Most channels in the USA are encoded as MPEG-2. Most mobile phones and tablets do not handle MPEG-2 video very well. They are designed to play MPEG-4. So, if you have an HD HomeRun tuner that is capable of transcoding the MPEG-2 stream to MPEG-4 on the...

Then use Ceton Companion for setting recordings etc. Does it play wtv files like Remote Potato does (which turned out not to be dead BTW)?

Each DLNA DMR has it's own specifications as to what codecs, bit rates, etc. are supported. You may be trying to send pictures/videos to the TV that the TV cannot display. Check the TV's manual to find out what resolutions, codecs, and bit rates are supported.
