Google Play movie/TV purchases play through Youtube. If, and only if, you have a 360 as your extender - you can go to the Youtube app and there is a 'purchases' section - here you can watch your Google Play movies/TV shows. That is the only way to do it on any extender.

If your video is copy protected by the broadcast, not software will be able to convert it. With the newer builds of MCEBuddy 2.3.15 it actually flags the conversion and stops it if it find a copy protection flag unless you manually instruct it to ignore the flag.

When I install all of Shark007 codecs, 32 bit and 64 bit (advanced, now, but both work fine), I don't change anything from default installation settings. Just un-check extras......

Thanks. I actually resolved the issue by making the 64 bit version of Media Player the default. Now everything plays fine. I have no idea why the 32 bit version didn't work on some files, since I have both 32 bit and 64 bit LAV filters installed. At least one version works.

Sounds like you have a lot of desires that were similar to my own... My solution was to use DVDFab to rip or convert everything I have to WMV.

DVDFab because it's the only thing I found outside of the Paid version of Expression encoder that can do WMV9's VC1 & WMAPro 5.1 audio at the highest...

I can understand all the hate towards codec packs, but Sharks64 works very well for me.
Clean Win7x64 install, Sharks64 install with a couple of tweaks and my system plays everything I throw at it.

Downloaded a bunch of movies and shows from Amazon and everything has FF/RW and works perfect in WMC.

Perfect, just tried it out and they work exactly how I want. Can download with Amazon and then move into my media library, rename, add metadata, etc. All works great. Plus they have rewind/fast forward which is a bonus.

If you get the same behaviour both times, the problem is probably with the tuner/your video signal.

MakeMKV I use default settings. On Handbrake, I use the High Quality settings and uncheck the large file size box -- this may be the same as the normal setting??. The settings down convert all audio to AAC and H.264 video....

LAV Filters, but you might lose ff/rev without ms decoder. It's far superior to ffdshow whitch isn't developed actively anymore. It comes with Splitter, Video and Audio decoder.

Easiest and cheapest is shark codec, uninstall bing toolbar, go into the settings in admin and go to audio and set it on the right to pass throughh all of the hd formats. If youre x64 youll need to go into the lav settings and check off all of the dts formats.

At that point all formats will work...

Maybe convert to h.264 wtv (assuming you are recording mpeg-2 streams)?
You will lose quality whenever you convert between codecs but h.264 is a good trade off, you'll need to try a few bitrates to find a balance you're happy with.

Before buying a new video card I'd recommend just using Win7's built in decoders. So, uninstall everything except Haali, which is still needed to play mkv, and try again. You don't even need Haali if you use tsmuxer to quickly convert mkv to m2ts.

From your name I'm guessing you're in the UK. The advantage of wtv is that is stores the MHEG data from Freeview, so the red button stuff and subtitles. Converting to dvr-ms will strip all that out - will save a chunk of disk space if that matters to you.
