My setup is Windows Media Center under Windows 7. Recently I have been watching mp4s and noticed that the quality was very poor indeed (avis are great). However, if I watch them in DivX Player, they look great!
However, I want to watch them in WMC because of all the advantages (mainly my remote...

Have either of you tried contacting Amazon re: the issue? I would contact the support dept. and explain the situation and see what codecs are needed, or it might need a little work on their DRM on their end to allow it to play within MC.

I'm interested in ripping 3D BluRay movies. I've tried DVDFab, and the best I can figure with it is to use the 3D BluRay Rip part of the software. However, this only rips the movie to a side-by-side or top/bottom 3D video. This plays OK on my 3D TV, but it drops half of the resolution because in...

If you have gone to the effort of ripping to an iso why would you want to then burn it again to a BD-R?
The intent would be to save my original copy of the movie in a safe place that isn't going to get handled by children, etc. They could then use the copy instead of the original. When the copy...

directvobsub auto loading version is essential if you have mkv with subtitles and don't fancy reaching for the mouse to select different audio tracks when watching films etc.

I am most interested in using some tool that will convert to WMV-HD and WMA 5.1 audio (as this allows for up to a 15MB bitrate on the videos)
Thanks!

Before buying a new video card I'd recommend just using Win7's built in decoders. So, uninstall everything except Haali, which is still needed to play mkv, and try again. You don't even need Haali if you use tsmuxer to quickly convert mkv to m2ts.

From your name I'm guessing you're in the UK. The advantage of wtv is that is stores the MHEG data from Freeview, so the red button stuff and subtitles. Converting to dvr-ms will strip all that out - will save a chunk of disk space if that matters to you.
The other thing is that wtv will store...

On Windows 7 x64, WMC is 64-bit and the WMP you get in the start menu is 32-bit, so 2 different sets of codecs are used. There is a 64-bit version of WMP, but you have to manually go find it in W7 x64 (it's in the Program Files directory, whereas the WMP that is linked in the start menu is in...

I would also suggest dvr-ms. Wtv is good also as long as you are only using extenders. I have a couple of extenders and also a western digital tv live plus and it will play dvr-ms but not wtv. I can use playto but that is a pain in the butt.
