Spectrum DVR frustration
by

Had issues with my Infinitv ETH6 last week. When I thought I would be without my tuners for a while until I could obtain and configure a new unit, I got a DVR from Spectrum for the interim. What a painful experience using that DVR. Amazing how superior WMC from Windows 7 days is compared to the DVR...

Just got hit with the latest round of price increases from our local monopolist. Xfinity Stream App Now on Chromecast

I just learned that the Xfinity Stream App now has capability to live stream cable to Google Chromecast device using your phone. Quality looks excellent from testing. This has me rethinking my network setup. This essentially would let me:
1. Rent 1 less cable card from Comcast (I rent two)

Hello!
I am having signal strength issues with my Ceton infiniTV4, so I am looking at getting an amplifier to boost the signal.
My question is in regards to if I can place the amplifier inline directly before the tuner card (and tuning adapter)? It would replace the current 2-way...
Last post
I bought an amplifier because of weak signal problems, but then had a lightning strike that took out a cable box. So I had the cable company repairman out. He measured the signal strength and dirtiness, and determined that their cable outside was the problem and ran all new cable, took off the...

I specifically told the rep that I had a problem with the combo units in the past and didn't want to change...

I have searched and found it you can fix it just check which version you use it. If you use old then it is time for the upgrading of your modem. It is very helpful to increase internet speed

I was just watching NBC live from the plex app on my tablet and noticed that the original feed said 1080p. I thought that's impossible since I have Comcast and they changed all their channels to 720p this year.
I immediately went onto WMC, hit the trusty 411 Information, and BAM... 1080p! 1920 X...

I work at a major TV station in CT... ATSC 3.0 is a way out... It's till not 100% with the FCC and MOST stations wont spend millions to upgrade UNLESS it's final spec.

M-Card only supports two streams??

by
Space » Thu Jul 06, 2017 9:37 pm
First post
Why does your cable provider only allow 2 streams? If you have an M-card it should allow up to 6 streams per device (if the device supports it).
I've read that the FCC requires cable providers to allow at least 4 streams per CableCard, although I just saw this in forum posts and don't know about...
Last post
IIRC - Back when the Ceton cards were new, Ceton undertook an effort to ensure that all major cable companies supported 6 channels per M card. There were some companies that were stragglers, especially for Motorola-based networks, but I thought they were all resolved. I believe it ultimately came...

So, since Comcast has converted my market to Enhanced HD several months ago, obviously the video quality has been degraded visibly. I do have a TiVo Bolt+ as well, and (at least subjectively) the video quality on the 720p channels is a bit more palatable on the Bolt (looks sharper and better...
Last post
My guess is that the Tivo can do more post processing on all content, including encrypted content than the WMC client can simply because it's actually had development done on it in the last 5 years.

Looks like Comcast is in the process of a sneak attack. The channels are all miss-matched when I compare their STB to HTPC.
For example Starz on the HTPC is 1980
On the STB Starz is 1779
