Media Center Dashboard

Has anyone seen a plugin for media center that is a soft of "dashboard". In one screen it shows todays calendar events, maybe shows scheduled to record that day, weather, local/nation news, etc.

I'd like to have like a home screen that is up day to day when not watching TV, etc.

Maybe Windows 8 will do something like this?

I don't know of anything like that - it's a brilliant idea though!
