How to get WMC Live TV at Windows 7 power up?
Goal - To have WMC start in live TV mode at Windows 7 initial power up.
I've tried the target modification of Shortcuts (for the program in both in the tray where I have an icon, and All Programs) and that works if you use that particular way to start WMC once Windows is started. But when I power the PC up from scratch and WMC is set to start at Windows start, it only goes into the standard main menu mode, Recorded TV. This seems like I'm missing something simple.
Any ideas are appreciated. TIA

Does MC use a scheduled task in task scheduler when it is set to run at startup? Just a guess.
Maybe look for the task there and set the required parameters?
I don't think it uses a registry key does it?
Maybe try a regedit search as well just in case?

%windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe “/mcesuperbar://tv?live=true”
Will start Media Center with live tv
I would try it on your machine in a RUN command, If it works as said above, I would update your shortcut that you use to start WMC when the computer starts.
Ok, if you cant get it working when the PC starts, it could be that the tuners are not available yet, I would try to batch script it out, a small bat file in the start up, putting a 5-10 second delay then running the command above.

I think OP is trying to start MC by using the tick box inside the MC GUI.
He may have to untick that box and use a startup shortcut instead - unless he can find the place where the auto start command can be edited....

You can edit the registry and put switches in there but, this might be easier...holidayboy wrote:I think OP is trying to start MC by using the tick box inside the MC GUI.

I would uncheck start WMC on start up from WMC, Find the shortcut for WMC on the start menu, Right click, "Copy" and "paste" it to the desktop, EDIT the shortcut to play live TV, test it to make sure it works. If good, go into the start menu, find the Startup folder, Right click on it, select "Open" this will open an Explorer Window, copy the new short cut in there and reboot the computer.
That is the first thing I would try...
