Entire Guide shows no data
I see in the threads here the Microsoft has changed providers for their guide. That's fine and all, but mine no longer downloads. Says it needs updating. I click download and it says it updated successfully. Yet the entire guide shows no data. My brother in law also uses WMC and he gets the same results. So TV is no longer recording.
I found one thread stating to run Windows Update and include optional updates. I did that and no luck.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas? Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

I ran Tasks - Settings - TV Signal - Set Up TV Signal.
Then ran Tasks - Settings - Guide - Get Latest Guide Listings.
Tried restarting.
Checked for updates again.
No changes. Any other ideas?

Are you OTA or cablecard? You could try a different zip code close by.

I am having the same issue, it just started yesterday. I think that it may be due to a Microsoft "Important" update as for me it started right after the update.

Here are other steps I've tried:
1. Open CMD as administrator. Type the following commands:
regsvr32.exe atl.dll
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /unregServer
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /service
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /unregServer
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /service
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /unregServer
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /regserver
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /unregServer
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /regserver
2. Again with CMD as Administrator:
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\mcupdated.exe
C:\WINDOWS\eHome\mcupdated.exe -MediaCenterRecoveryTask
3. Check Event Viewer. Discovered an error. Important lines are:
- The NetworkMetadata package is not available.
- Errors during the last update.
Googled those errors and got nothing.
This is a huge deal to me as I cannot record anything anymore.

I also have this issue.
Starting on Sunday July 19th when I open the EPG it tells me "GUIDE LISTINGS Guide listings will be out of date in fewer than 3 days. Select Download to get the latest Guide listings. [Download] [Remind Me Later]" If I choose Download, several seconds pass and it says "GUIDE LISTINGS UPDATE COMPLETED Guide listings were downloaded successfully", then the guide opens but all the lines in the guide say "No Data Available."
When I run TV Setup, even with a different Zip Code as 3r0b3 suggested, it gets roughly 60% through the Downloading TV Setup and says "DOWNLOAD FAILURE The new TV setup data could not be downloaded. The existing data, if available, will be used as you continue through TV signal setup."
I have tried disabling my firewall and anti-virus before attempting the Guide Download and TV Setup with the same results. I even Restored my System Backup from July 12th, to no avail.
It should be noted that the event viewer has had the following two related errors occurring since July 15th:
Event ID: 0
Event Source: MCUpdate
Locale ID: 1033
Failed to retrieve EpgLineups (Error: There is an error in XML document (1, 425725).)
Event ID: 0
Event Source: MCUpdate
Locale ID: 1033
Failed to retrieve nettv (Error: PackageName is invalid.)
I hope this helps someone find a solution.

I'm embarrassed to ask, but it's been so long since I ran TV setup on my Media Center PC... During TV Setup, will it attempt to update PlayReady? If yes, will this damage any Copy Once Recordings that I have?

My setup blanked the guide as well. I have tried all I can to get it to update. It states update is needed, says is downloading successfully and No data avail. This sux. I checked Zaptoit and the guides are still there....but MC isn't getting the data.
Please advise. i did read the thought of try another zip code...but what to try? OTA here and flawless for 7 years until now. Sunday july 19 I think was th first 3 day warning, now blank.

Gonna try the zip code again off of his adviseat this page.

Seems it can work once you use a zip that the new service has aligned.
Good luck.

After reading this thread I used the most "popular" (not most populated) zip code in our area and was able to get listings.
This was after I tried all 3 zipcodes in the biggest nearby community and none of them are loaded.
Very glad to have the listings back.

If you're getting the Download failure, try the following:
1) Edit your host file (windows\system32\drivers\etc)
2) Add the following at the bottom:
65.55.186.113 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com
72.246.56.59 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com
3) Goto a cmd prompt & type "ipconfig /flushdns" (enter).
4) Type "MSConfig" - Select the option to boot to Safe Mode
5) Reboot the computer
6) When the login screen appears, login. You should be in Safe Mode
7) Open file explorer & navigate to C:\Program Data\Microsoft\ehome
8) Delete any folders that start with mc3peg..
9) Delete any files that start with mcepg..
10 Open CMD prompt.
11) Type MSCONFIG & press Enter
12) Select Normal Boot option.
13) Reboot the computer. You should be back in regular mode
14) Re-Setup Media Center.

Won't following all of these steps essentially clear out all guide related data, including any series recordings? If so, I would caution on steps 3-14 as a near last resort as it would likely also require setting up all series recordings again. I haven't tested this and it's been awhile since I've messed around with the folders/files mentioned, but it did give me pause.
Hardcoding the DNS entries can be useful in some instances, but I would also recommend if you do this to remove the entries from the HOST file afterwards.
WMC will show no data in Guide if your config is still set to Zap2It. It will also appear to download guide data, but what it appears to do is to download the last available package, which has now expired.
After re-running Setup TV Signal, you can verify you are now using ROVI by going to Task->Settings->TV->Guide->About Guide Listings (doing this from memory, so the path might not be exact). About Guide Listings will show ROVI.
If, after re-running Setup TV Signal you still have no guide data, then you can try re-running Setup TV Signal and use a different nearby zip code. I would also recommend reporting to https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback the zip code that failed.

With the guide switchover from Zap2It to ROVI, you will need to re-run Setup TV Signal, but this should not affect any series recordings.choliscott wrote:If you're getting the Download failure, try the following:

I was having the same issue - though I don't think it was caused by Windows Updates, as I had 40+ updates that I hadn't applied yet. I was able to get it to work after re-setting up the TV signal with another zip code. Thanks for everyone's suggestions!

I returned home from 2 weeks away, to discover a number of missing recordings on Comedy Central. These were series events on what was channel 67 for TWC/LA, which had previously been Comedy Central. I also was showing "NO DATA" for channel 67 along with "NO DATA" for the three OTA PBS channels received via my OTA/ATSC tuner, 50.1, 56.1 and 58.1.
Also, TWC/LA apparently put through another significant channel revision recently.
And apparently, Microsoft has also changed Guide providers for WMC. It is no longer Zap2it!! It is now Rovi!!
So, I had to redo my "TV signal" setup, to pick up the new channel numbers. This was a bit of a struggle, and did result in many duplicate entries for the same channel number, until fighting through this managed to get WMC to clean out the duplicates and straighten everything out. Comedy Central is now back on 113, and I actually now do have Guide info for the shows and my series recordings are once again scheduled to be recorded. Also, the three PBS channels now once again show data, provided through Rovi.
So, although I missed some shows I can still view them from the Comedy Central web site so it's no great loss. And hopefully the new Rovi arrangement will be a bit more up-to-date with ongoing channel lineup changes than Zap2it was.

In addition to my steps I tried in post 3 and in post 6 above, I've now tried all of the following:
1. Changed ZIP code a number of times to major metropolitan city codes
2. mcupdate -uf
3. mcupdate -uf -pscn 0
4. mcupdate -uf -dbgc
5. Altered HOSTS file temporarily per an other post with these two entries:
65.55.5.170 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com
2.16.216.176 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com
Then ran the following:
ipconfig /flushdns
6. Uninstalled ArcSoft (which has an icon in WMC)
7. Uninstalled PlayOn
8. Uninstalled Netflix for MCE
9. Uninstalled PlayReady
10. Uninstalled MCE from Windows Setup
11. Ran SCF /SCANNOW
12. Ran CHKDSK
13. Reinstalled MCE from Windows Setup
NOTHING has worked yet. I'm trying out other posts here at hte moment.

Hi All first time post. I have multiple WMC installations with multiple guides on each install and they all failed sequentially until there was just no data all guides. clearly this is a supply problem from guide provider. don't waste time reinstalling or tinkering. it will come back when source is fixed. seems like zip code 14301 went first then 14021.
