Does anyone know of hardware that takes in an hdmi signal and then streams that signal over a local network so that the audio and video can be used on a compatible portable device (Android tablet/phone, Windows Tab or iPad?). The unit must also provide hdmi passthrough so that I can still connect it to a TV.
Currently I have a satellite set top box plugged into the TV but was wondering if there is any hardware to share the currently selected channel onto my local network.

You have pretty much described a Slingbox. You would have to switch to component output though.
