HDMI Audio Muting - Handshake issue?
Hey all,
My zbox htpc running wmc is experiencing an hdmi handshake issue for audio. My zbox is connected to my LG hdtv via hdmi and then the tv uses an optical audio cable to go to the surround sound.
When I start the htpc then turn on the tv, everything is perfect. BUT sometimes the htpc wakes on its own to record a show with wmc. Then I turn on the tv midshow only to find the audio on the htpc is muted. Then I have to get the mouse out and goto the desktop to click unmute.
Is there any way to fix this hdmi handshake issue? I've been reading about hdmiyo and scripts but those seem to addess issues with the htpc coming out of sleep. My issue is having the htpc running before the tv is on and then turning it on. Thanks!

Not sure if my solution will work for you, but what I did was go all HDMI. My HDMI Players are the HTPC, a couple extenders, and a laptop. I have a couple 32" TV's, a projector and a small amp connected as HDMI TV's. Everything is connected to a HDMI 4X4 matrix switcher (less than $200). The switcher is on 24/7.
The kinky part is that I have the amp connected "as if" it were a HDMI TV. I suppose that means I took away the switching capability of the amp.
The nice part is the sound matches the video (no delay, audio sync is perfect) and I can have any source to any display or same source to all displays.

Thanks everyone, I was hoping there was some sort of setting change I could make without adding more expensive hardware like the hdmi detective
