Win7 WMC "HDCP Support Required" Error
I'm running Win7(x64) with a MSI Hawk 5770 video card. Whenever I start Live TV in WMC I get the "HDCP Support Required" error. For a workaround, I have to resize WMC to be able get past the error. The card is HDCP certified and the error happens every time I start WMC, is there a permanent fix?

What brand and model is your display? Is it hooked directly to the PC? Have you tried updating to the latest drivers?

The display is a Dell UltraSharp 2007FP Digital display configured at 1600x1200/60Hz, it's directly connected to the computer in question by DVI-D. It's also connected to another computer via VGA. I'm running the latest ATI Catalyst driver (non-beta) version 8.892.0.0 (release date 2011-09-08).
Do I dare look for beta drivers?

I am familiar with this monitor; it is not HDCP compliant!CMonster wrote:The display is a Dell UltraSharp 2007FP

According to this, the monitor has a DVI port that is HDCP compliant. Nevermind, wrong model number (close though) Additionally, if the monitor was not HDCP compliant, the problem wouldn't be fixed by resizing WMC. I've seen a number of people with this problem and solution, but I can't recall ever seeing anyone figure out why it happens. My guess is it has something to do with EDID.

The Ultrasharp 2007FPW is compliant. The UltraSharp 2007FP is not compliant.

Well that's unfortunate. Does anyone know a quick and easy workaround (other than using the VGA port) to make WMC bypass checking for monitor compliance?

HDMI detective might work, might now. Fixed my problems but different than yours.

I had this problem too, but it was the DVI connection. I don't think DVI is fully HDCP compliant. I believe if it was your monitor, it wouldn't work at all. The DVI thing is tricky, it allows it to work doing that resize window trick. My problem was solved by using HDMI connector and cable.
