Extenders Freezing (Xbox and Linksys)

#1

Post by QingGuy » Sun Jan 26, 2014 3:12 pm

My Linksys has always had freezing issues after being left on for extended periods of time, however recently both my Linksys and Xbox 360 have been freezing. I tried setting the DNS to zero as stated in this thread - http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... eze#p53751 however it did not fix my issue.

Here's an example of what happens; last night turned Linksys on, watched about 5 minutes of TV and it froze on me. No functions on remote work except power off. Power off, boots back-up, starts WMC and hangs on waiting on computer. Re-start again, and again, and again with same results. Restart again and fully starts. Watch TV for 10 minutes, freezes again. Argh! Any suggestions?

Linksys box is hardwired as is HTPC, no other issues on my network.

Thanks in advance for any help provided!

The one suggestion over in the other thread, is to just move the Android over to the guest Wifi. Do you have a router with guest Wifi?

When the Xbox freezes can you get back to the Xbox Dash? You might also want to start turning off other devices that are on the network to try and isolate your network.

Ordered a NETGEAR WNDR3700 N600 that supports Guest. Easiest solution for me. Thanks again!

You might want to do a little research here by using the search window at the top right of this page. Just type in "WNDR3700" apparently others have had to upgrade/downgrade the firmware to get the extenders working properly.

Did a very quick search and it appears the issues were with Echo extenders, I have Linksys. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah, you're right. 99% of the problems were echo related at TGB, however, if you dig a little deeper, you will discover, that a particular version of that router-with a particular version of firmware causes problems with other types of extenders, including XBOX. http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=67681

Here is the firmware page: http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/ hopefully you wont have to use it.
