I have recently started having problems playing ripped movies (DVDs and Blu rays) streamed from a Windows Server 2012 Essentials server. Movies that have worked fine in the past don't play any more. I can move the movies to the Windows 7 media center PC and they play fine. When I try and stream the same movies from the server they don't play, the screen goes black and I noticed that ehshell.exe is takin 40-50% CPU.
This only happens on some movies, not all. All movies affected have played in the past. I have tired re booting server and media center to no avail. I have a wired GB network connecting the media center to the server, it works fine as far as I know. For example, I can transfer large files from one machine to the other at a sustained rate of around 700 MB/s.
Anyone got any ideas why streaming video does not work for all files?
Thanks
Ben

700 MB/s sustained transfer speed? What kind of super fast SSD array do you have in there?
