Hulu Desktop error #32

#1

Post by winterescape » Sat Dec 07, 2013 3:31 am

I wanted to post for others with the same issue. If you have been using Hulu desktop in WMC it may just be the end. Hulu has announced the that they are ending support for it and recently many users now are reporting the same error I receive. Shortly after launching Hulu desktop it closes and reports "system verification error #32.

The hulu desktop support forums have additional detail

I'm seeing the error too... what a shame. Tried some of the fixes that were suggested, but none of them work. I guess that means its about time for someone else to make a hulu add-in for media center :)

Same error for me as well, been looking into this for the last couple days. Tried rolling back from IE 11 to IE 10, same error. There seem to be lots of complaints / views on the Hulu forum. Hope it sparks enough of a revolt that they at least look into it but I'm not optimistic. If anyone finds a fix please post. Thanks.

So along the lines of a potential replacement, I see lots of posts of folks doing cool things with ReLaunch. Anyone have a solution using Chrome and Relaunch that is not making use of HULU desktop?

You could certainly do that, but once you are there you will be limited to keyboard/mouse.

http://download.hulu.com/huludesktop.swf

And launch chrome in kiosk mode (-kiosk)

After talking with staknhalo about this he tested the link with a couple browsers (IE and Chrome) with the link above but it still gave the same error. Error says it's a server verification error, sounds like something HULU would have to look into and since Hulu Desktop is no longer supported I don't know how willing they will be to devote resources to fixing this. (Which Sucks!) ... Hopefully they will because of all the complaining but.. ??? If it won't work via the browser(s) It won't work with ReLaunch either.. I can only get a few minutes into a show before it crashes with either error 32 or 65..

Very interesting. Bummer. After further testing, I too get error 65 after several minutes in the browser using the link. No issue if I just browse to hulu.com and log in. However, whenever I launch hulu desktop it crashes after 30-40 seconds with the "server verification error #32"

they killed it waiting for email confirmation but as far as I'm concerned this is proof enough

go ahead click it and see I'm trying to get a hold of a few of my friends to see if we can mod it in some way to avoid the error 32 cause besides that error hulu desktop still works

The loss of Hulu Desktop diminishes the availability and ease of use of Internet content for Home Theater PCs. If you care about this, let your voice be heard and take a few minutes to
comment on the Hulu Desktop message board or
open a support ticket if Hulu Desktop is giving you a server verification error (error #32).

The more users they hear from, the more likely Hulu management is to consider their input.

Hulu Desktop had a reasonable ten foot user interface that could be operated with a Media Center remote. The hulu.com website is, frankly, awful in comparison to Hulu Desktop and cannot be used with a Media Center remote.

I just went onto the forums to flame Hulu for this. Appears some people have been noticing it starting working again today.
Mine works as well, I will hold off my flaming for now.

fixed for me too! I had not checked this thread but received a e-mail from HULU support indicating that they thought they had resolved it. We have now watched several shows and all seems good again...

Well I guess all the complaining on their site over the desktop software was taken to heart if they actually devoted resources to fixing it. Now they need to realize that they were onto something good here and update the app instead of canceling it. More people enjoy using it than the browser version.

I tested Hulu Desktop yesterday, streaming for about 8-10 minutes. It streamed without problems; I did NOT see Error #32.

So what are folks now doing to watch HULU?
