Hypothetically....
How could I merge two different zip codes of guide data?
My parents live on the eastern shore (-ish) of Lake Michigan.
With their extreme fringe antenna/booster/50'+ tower, they can get Green Bay stations.
As a Packer fan, this is important...
When I look at zaptoit for their zip code (49660), it shows local channels only.
In the ReplayTV days, I "complained" to replay and they added the Green Bay channels to their guide data for that zip code.
My parents still use the Replays, but they are getting real difficult. Also, they now use WiRNS and schedulesdirect for guide, which means no more Green Bay stations and an incredible administration pain for me.
HDHRs are pretty cheap these days. <$75.
Computer laying around - Free
Xbox for bedroom - $180
Optional HDD expansion - $100
VGA to composite - $50
Not bad...
Guide data from 2 different zipcodes

I used to use a paid for app that downloaded the latest type of guide data (a free version can get XP style data) from the MS servers and output an xmltv file, I used to get 3 sets of data that way and then import it all into Media Center.
It was called mc2xml. You'd have to check if it complies with the MS guide data T&C's, I'm not sure.

Looks like an adventure. Trying to have something very reliable (not saying mc2xml isn't).

I am interested in that too. We can get stations from Hamilton ON, Toronto, ON, Rochester, NY in addtion to our local Buffalo, NY TV. CBC has a lot of hockey games that are not even available on the NHL channel on FiOS.

I think I may have found a solution...

For me, since I'm in the same country, I think it is "easier".
I haven't read through the whole thing, or tried to do it yet, but it seems doable.
I *think* I just need to find the I.D. for the second zipcode, modify a batch file, run it, and enjoy.

Great! I may try it out when I have time to fiddle with WMC. Thanks!
