Italics

When did everything go to italics on this site. My brain reads italics much slower than normal text, evidently. Is there some way to turn the italics off?

No italics here either. Check your browser settings?

What browser settings would that be? Not everything is italics, just the content of the posts. Post titles, user information, headers, etc. all remain in regular text as before. This same behavior happens whether I am in Chrome or IE, whether at home or at work (not that I am checking this site at work, mind you ;) ). Must be something in my user profile on the forum.

EDIT: Quick check of user profile settings doesn't reveal any font selection or italics for display of content. Are you guys just messing with me or do you really not see all postings in italics?

Nothing has changed for me, there are no italics. Considering you have tried multiple browsers/computers and I'm assuming no other sites do this its probably not a browser setting. Might try logging out and try viewing as a guest. Maybe a mod or admin can help.

Italics? What italics? I don't see no freaking italics!

But, seriously... maybe you changed something with the fonts on your computer?

kingwr,

Please browse the site as a guest, do you still see italics?

Logging in as guest did not change it. Also, I get italics for all content on the UDI forums (forum.universal-devices.com) which appears to use the same forum software as TGB.tv. Just the post content, mind you, not the titles, signatures, buttons, badges or any other stuff. It turns out I lied about the work computer (Windows 7). Checked it on Friday and it was not italics. This may be a Windows 8 thing? Anybody else (interested) with Windows 8?

I don't see italics on my Win8 laptop.

Keep us posted on any progress you make, I haven't seen anything on the phpbb site.

Maybe try reinstalling fonts?

I think I remember having to move fonts to a temp folder and then back in order to reinstall them?

It may very well be a font issue. Evidently Windows 7 and 8 will show a missing font in italics. So one of the fonts in the font list for the "content" class must be registered in the system's font list but the actual font is missing. I should be able to delete the missing font from the font list and the browser should select the next present font, such as Arial or one of the more basic fonts. Haven't figured out how to do that quite yet, though. Regardless, it doesn't appear to be site issue at all, although this is the only place I have noticed it as of yet.

Found and downloaded "Trebuchet MS" font (second font in the font list for the "content" css class) and installed it. Bingo! No more italics. Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers for the feedback. The next question is why did it happen?

Best guess is that I uninstalled some application and it took Trebuchet MS regular with it, leaving Trebuchet MS italic and bold italic behind. But who knows?
