TV playback freezes computer - resolved

#1

My 7MC just started freezing to a black screen when playing live or recorded TV, requiring a reset to start using again. I'm able to play music and do other things for hours but TV consistently freezes within minutes. I've got a Geforce GT 430 and a Ceton tuner (also using a tuning adapter), which I've been using for six months with no problems. The TV also gives me an input message "HDMI 1" when the screen goes black. I thought it might be an HDMI issue, but everything except for TV still works fine, and pressing the reset button immediately brings up the boot screen.

Could this be a Ceton issue or possibly a graphics card issue? Thanks for any advice.

Open the case and make sure the fan is operating on the GT430...over heating results in the exact symptons you stated.

Agreed that this is video-card related. You might try upgrading to the newest video drivers (or downgrading, if you recently upgraded)

OP said live and recorded TV. I agree with the previous posters...most likely a GPU issue.

Ask me how many fans I've replaced on the same GT210? Luckily I have room in the case to mount a larger ,quieter, better quality fan than what came on the card.
