Activation Required Error

#1

Post by tangoTV » Tue Mar 12, 2013 12:22 am

I have a HD homerun Prime and Windows 7 Ultimate N ...

It took a lot to get the cable card working but it was working great for 4 weeks. Now i get random errors "Activation Required' asking for Activation of Digital cable device or Windows?

I have re-run the DCA many times and windows is also showing activated.

Sounds like a Cable Company problem from here. Here are the direct phone numbers to most of the major cable company's. http://cetoncorp.com/infinitv_support/c ... ctivation/ Also, the CABLEcard might have just gone bad. You might want to go down to your local cable office and get a couple, one to use and one for a spare.

It's not a cable company problem. CableCARD tuners do not work with the N edition of Windows 7 because is lacks the necessary DRM components.

I dont think it is an issue with the Cable card.. I can see the log and it is activate/paired... and the channel is tuned as subscribed. When WMC tries to display the content it is giving the Activation issue. If i Leave the channel tuned with the error message .... it will start working every 20 min or so... then stop.

It is recording oddly enough... i can see the recording... but then cant view it. This is the same scheduled recording that has been working for 4 weeks.

Oh! How did I miss that. Wrong version and no activation. Now I get it. Time to get the credit card out.

Holy cow! I didn't know that N, K, and KN versions existed. After reading about them, it makes me wonder how M$ got away with their claims during the US anti trust suit! They claimed that it was IMPOSSIBLE to separate Internet Explorer from Windows! Somehow, the EU forced them to do it! Wow, that's amazing.

They said that is was impossible to desperate IE from windows XP.

The N versions ship without Windows Media Player, IE is still there.
