I'm using mine in my main viewing area and for my needs it works great. The latest firmware has fixed the slight stutter on panning scenes on the Smithsonian channel that I was experiencing on previous firmware. The picture and sound quality has been great on the last few updates.
I'm sitting about 12 ft from my 52 inch Sony and everything is crystal clear without combing or any other anomalies. The only thing I'm waiting for is native dvd rip support and i (and the wifey) will be content.

I know I complained a few versions ago, but this is by FAR the worst one yet.

I use toslink/ac3 into a onkyo which has worked just fine will all the other fw's. This beta has audio sync issues, tiling as described before that does not go away after a fast forward/rewind. I have lost the audio stream many times now and have to use skip back (sometimes as many as 3 skips back) to regain the audio stream. The HDMI port is having issues on boot up, where I have to hotplug the TV to get the MCE start menu.

Time to give up...

Disney Junior is almost there. It looks about 90% better but there is still a slight jitter maybe that just makes it uneasy to watch.

206.1558 is not doing any good for me. HD History channel looks a little grainy. Sound is not putting out as well as 129.1538. You might notice some improvements to the SD channels, but for me HD sucks.

Glad I have 2 Echos, the other one is staying with 1538 for now. On the upside though, the last round of updates started out a little shakey, and ended up near perfect with 1538, so I expect some great improvements in the next little while.

It's in the Echo web interface.

Open a web browser and type in your Echo's IP address, then click on settings. Front panel brightness can be changed from 10 to 0

I typically leave the extender and the htpc powered on but turn the tv connected to the extender off. Recently, after this latest firmware update, I have to pair the Echo each time I turn the TV on. It requires a hard reboot of the Echo. Until this week, this hardly ever happened. Anyone having the same problem?

It just froze which it has never done. Had to reboot and then pair again! What a PITA!

Are you guys ever going to get this right? It's embarrassing when people come over and the damn thing starts acting up.

Please get these issues fixed. Maybe hire a few guys from Microsoft. The Xbox as an extender works flawlessly. Why can't you all get this right?

Are you using a Netgear WNDR3700 router? There's a known issue with this router causing this.

I'm strongly considering that option at this point. I've had the thing since October, and it still doesn't do much of what was promised.

Last night, my wife went to the bedroom to watch TV for a while, and she experienced the "green screen" that so many of you have complained about. It's the first time I've seen it. I rebooted it, and it started to work OK. A while later, she was watching a recorded TV episode, and it just stopped. The image of the show was frozen on the screen, and none of the buttons, except POWER would do anything. Another reboot, and she watched for a while... only to have it start acting up after she finished that show.

She was unable to play another show, and none of the thumbnails was populated. This time, the PC was messed up in the same way... I couldn't start a show on the HTPC either. I had to reboot it. I've had several instances where my HTPC got squirrely due to the use of the Echo. This doesn't happen when using any of my other extenders... only the Echo causes odd behavior on the PC.

Nine more days until the end of the extended warrantee, and no word from Ceton for quite a while about features that were promised long ago.
