Will the 1080 stutter ever be fixed?
I've about had it with the video quality of the echo. While the 1080i stutter has been improved since its release, I would still describe it as abysmal. I'm running the latest beta software and its a horrid experience. Nothing looks natural. Camera pans are downright headache inducing.
I regret my purchase and would never recommend this product. There simply doesn't seem to be any desire to fulfill even the most basic functionality. We're promised Android, but I can't even watch CBS.. At this point it seems as if the hardware is woefully underpowered, the support lacking, and the future bleak. Very disappointing.

1080 on mine is really good, I'd say almost perfect.
Certainly not like it used to be.
Are you sure there isn't another factor at play?

I had a lot of stutter on my 360 Extender until I remembered this was a new reinstall of Media Center.

We are testing a new firmware on omega group right now so hopefully it will hit beta extremely soon that resolves a lot of 720p to 1080p issues that you might be experiencing.

Same here. I haven't had any video issues for quite a while now.STC wrote: 1080 on mine is really good, I'd say almost perfect.

It's an existing install of WMC and my HP x280n is flawless so I'd say that the echo is the problem. As I have a direct comparison with an existing extender, it's not my network, my hardware or my install of WMC on W7. Maybe it's the beta firmware causing problems, but it's the echo at fault.STC wrote:Are you sure there isn't another factor at play?

I just installed the update and my initial testing is good. Before when I set the echo to 1080p I would get serious stutter on all 720p channels. Now all channels are smooth and clear.Motz wrote:We are testing a new firmware on omega group right now so hopefully it will hit beta extremely soon that resolves a lot of 720p to 1080p issues that you might be experiencing.

I wanted to Chime in and say that I have the latest firmware and still experience the stutter problem. However, mine is more of the "jittering" problem that was a problem that was supposedly fixed back in December.
I have my regular DVR through my cable company, I can watch a sporting event on it, and look at the score overlay on the screen. It stays still. If I switch to the Echo on the same exact channel and event, I can look at the score overlay and notice it moving up and down very fast. It's a very slight jitter, and it's hard to see when sitting back far from the TV, but it's definitely something I can notice. I thought this was fixed in the latest update.

Have you tried native mode to test?
Do you know what the broadcast resolutions are that you are seeing the problems?
In a few days I think a general release is coming which Improves 720p to 1080p scaling.
[edit] If you're in the Omega channel you should see it as an available update
[edit 2] Oh sorry I see you are already ON the latest Omega release (1545)....
Again, I see no distinct jerkyness on panning shots for any resolution, I watch in native mode.
Just a thought,- check you don't have any whacky processing turned on at the TV end.

I don't use native because of the delay when changing resolution thru my AVR. Picture wise it looked good while watching all channels. Setting to 1080p output used to cause severe stutter when watching 720p content before this latest f/w. Now it works perfectly on all channels. I never had any issues with sound thru hdmi using ac3 setting.

can you run just the audio through the receiver and not the picture(direct connect the echo to the tv) and does it still have this jitter or stutter?

The current OMEGA appears to solve my jitter/stutter as well. 720p upscaled to 1080p is smooth, but looks strange at times. Not sure if it is the content or the Echo though.STC wrote:Have you tried native mode to test?

I have to say that it is fantastic in picture quality when I can get past EDID/HDCP/HDMI handshake issues..

My set up is echo >> HDMI >> Denon AVR 2312ci >> HDMI >> Samsung LN650-40A.
