RDP version 8.0 KB2592687 - does it break extenders in Win7?

So... as we all know, extenders other than the XBox360 don't work in Win8. I just noticed that there is an update for Win7 KB2592687 that updates to RDP version 8.0... does this update break non-XBox extender functionality on Win7?

I don't load Windows Updates on my HTPC, nor do I have any XBox360 extenders... but I'm just curious. Does anyone have this update installed on their HTPC with a non-XBox extender (e.g. XP X280N, Linksys DMA-2100/DMA-2200, or Ceton Echo) and it still works after this update?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

I have not yet installed this update, but based on the KB article description, I believe it is only updating the RDP client (and not server); I would not expect this to impact extender functionality in Windows 7.

Thanks for the reply, erkotz. I was running updates on a new PC that I built for my step-daughter for Christmas, and I saw this update. I just wanted to post it in case it caused any issues with folks who are running Win7 with non-XBox extenders. I see now that it's mostly talking about clients.

However, there is also a section here titled "How to enable RDP 8.0 on a remote computer that is running Windows 7 SP1". I'm wondering if it's possible, in Win8, to do the exact reverse of those instructions to disable RDP 8.0 on a Win8 computer. If so, then maybe it will be possible to get Linksys, HP, and Echo extenders to work with Win8 by just making a few changes to settings?
