Channel number changes are not permanent
Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
I have a dual DVB-T2 card & dual DVB-S2 card (UK based), which I have merged the channels for BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD & C4 HD and I have numbered them 1, 2, 3 & 4 in the guide, but every couple of weeks they are renumbered 101,102,103,104 on their own. I have disabled the background scanner, but it still renumbers them. I do I stop it happening?
Thanks.

This may not be a very helpful response, but the only way I found to stop this happening was to recan all the channels from scratch before renumbering them. I suspect there's some new metadata in the transport stream that triggers the loss of new numbers, but I don't have the skills needed to diagnose it myself.

It is possible that there are two registry settings that need to be altered in order to disable background scanning (also known as "opportunistic scanning"). See this thread for details:wyerd wrote:I have disabled the background scanner, but it still renumbers them.

Hello,
I like to re-arrange the channels, so for example BBC1 HD is next to BBC1 (not sure why I keep them both ..) and ITV1 + 1 is right next to ITV1 for example, however I keep finding that after I save the new channel numbering after a while the channels go back to where they were (e.g. BBC1 HD goes from Channel 2 back to 101)
I have periodic scan turned off in the registry, so anything else that could be doing this?
Ta

Mychannel logos used to do that to mine if I auto-assigned them...

you keep BBC1HD and BBC1 because the regional news is not shown on the HD channels? Thats why i still have it. I use DVBlink which overcomes this and much more...

Nothing that sophisticated. I live at the fringe of the Crystal Palace reception, and before the switchover when the transmission power was lower the HD channels were flaky. My wife still does not trust them and so everything is recorded in SD and HD just in case.

If you try this and it solves your problem, please report back here, so that we know that it is indeed the solution. This guy had the identical problem to you:

but he never replied, so we do not know whether his problem was solved.

I had to add the second registry entry as It didn't exist, but I still get the HD channels being reset back to their original numbers.

I'm ruling out MyChannelLogos first by unchecking the 'check for new logos' option.

Did anybody ever work out a solution to this problem? I have both registry keys set but still find that my renumbered HD channels (101 to 1, 102 to 2, etc) revert back fairly frequently. The renumbered SD channels seem to stay put though.
Thanks,
Mark

This is an irrating problem which keeps on returning, but not often enough for me to do anything about!
Anyone got any other ideas?
