#1

Post by oldschoolbob » Wed Sep 06, 2023 3:00 am

I've using media center for 3 years. I renewed last month. Now it don't work after my old subscription ended.
Did my subscreption get cancelled?

I paid using PayPal on 8/5/23.

Log in to www.schedulesdirect.org and you should be able to see when you subscription expired/expires. You can then click on the "Contact Us" link on the left of that page to ask about your subscription if it was not extended. If it was extended, then you can post here your EPG123 trace.log to determine what the problem may be.

I checked with schedulesdirect and got this responce:

No idea... we're just the data service. You'll need to check EPG123's
support Green Button Forum.
viewforum.php?f=99

I don't see any download attempts from you since 8/22. I'd make sure
the media center can browse the internet, then check the forum.

Robert

What is a EPG123 trace.log and how do I post it?
How do I make sure the media center can browse the internet?
It has worked in the past.
Seems like the updates stopped at the end of last years subscription.

Open the configuration GUI. If you had changed your password with SD when you renewed, it will fail to automatically login and you will be able to enter new password and save.

To view the trace.log file, just click the [View Log] button. Entries in red are errors; yellow are warnings.

Please understand I’m not a computer person. What is a configuration GUI? Where is it? How do I open it? How do I check the password? I don’t recall if I changed my password. How do I fix it if I did change it?

Where is the trace log? How do I view it? Where is the [View Log] button?

How do I keep this from happening in the future?

Thanks for your help.

Use the EPG123 shortcut to open the configuration GUI.

Actually, based on what you've shared so far, it might be easier/better to download and install the latest version of EPG123 from http://garyan2.github.io. That may even fix your problem... there have been a lot of changes with SD API security requirements and endpoints in the last 3 years.

At the end of the install, you will have an option to run EPG123, you can click the checkbox and when closing the installer it will automatically open the configuration GUI.

I downloaded and installed the latest version as suggested. I didn’t see any check box to run EPG123. It just rebooted. When it came back I went to the TV Guide and it said to download. I did and I still get No data available.
What am I doing wrong?

I guess my EPG123 did not run. How do I run it now?

If it had to reboot, that means you had to update .NET Framework to 4.6.2. You would have gotten a prompt "The minimum .NET Framework is not installed. Do you wish to install .NET Framework 4.6.2 Client software now?" followed by another prompt "You need to restart your machine to complete .NET Framework 4.6.2.". If that is the case, then you need to run the epg123 setup again. If it prompts again that you need to install .NET again, that means you are missing a needed Windows update to install it. Just say no or cancel the install.

From your start menu, there should be a folder called 'EPG123' with a shortcut also called 'EPG123'... click that to open the configuration GUI.

I don’t recall any message that .NET Framework is not installed but I did a full install. So I run the install program again. No mention of .NET Framework. There were 2 options at the end. Launch EPG123 and Launch EPG123 Client. I checked both boxes. When the EPG123 configurator v1.8.2.2 opens I get a message “failed_token: failed to get new token. Review the local server.log file for SD response details.

The other thing that opened was EPG123 Client Guide Tool v1.8.2.2 and it shows a list of channels which look correct.

I did a screen capture on all boxes. Is there any way to post them here?

I think we’re getting closer but I don’t know what to do. Thanks for your help.

From localhost:9009/server.log
[9/7/2023 1:07:56 AM] [ERROR] Did not receive a response from Schedules Direct for a token request.

From EPG123 log viewer log
[9/7/2023 2:47:30 AM] [ERROR] The MXF file imported is 369.79 hours old.

There's other stuff listed but I don't know what it means.

Please post the entire contents of the server.log. I need to see what errors were before that.

The entire file is too big. Is this the correct file?

No, that is the trace.log file. The server.log file will be much smaller. http://localhost:9009/server.log

Interesting. This may explain why updates started failing a couple weeks ago. Verify your clock is showing the correct time, temporarily turn off all your firewalls and anti-virus programs and see if you can login with epg123.

According to my phone my computer clock in 1 minute slow.

I’m not sure I have any firewalls or anti-virus programs. The only thing I know of is Microsoft Security Essentials and Add Blocker on my browser. Where do I check and for what?

How do I login with EPG123?
