Running 1.8.1.4 and just got this when I had warning and then did a "Save and execute". It has worked until now.

Code: Select all

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What does the log say? Need to know if it was trying to start epg123.exe to download/build the mxf file, or if it was trying to start epg123Client.exe to import the mxf file.

It's weird. I open the configuration GUI and it does appear that I can log in. Once i hit Save and Execute, that is when it bombs out.

Seems to work when running the scheduled task or when I click Update Guide Now from the tray icon.

This is weird. For some reason, it is telling us you don't have the rights to run the epg123.exe file from the GUI. The task works because it is run using the SERVICE credentials. Is there something about your user account that may prevent this? If you run the configuration GUI as administrator, does it run successfully?

OK ran EPG123 as administrator an that does run successfully. I have not changed anything regarding my windows account.

I'm running it from the tray icon. Also tried running manually without asking for administrator access. Fails on that.

Any idea how to fix this? Should it all be running as Administrator?

You shouldn't have to run anything as administrator unless you have a restricted user account. Check to see if either epg123_gui.exe or epg123.exe have been flagged as "download" software or are set to run in compatibility mode.

Antivirus hasn't flagged it. And they are not set to run in compatibility mode. Any other ideas?

Maybe has to do with running Win10 Core? From a command prompt, try to run "epg123.exe -p -import". This is what the configuration GUI tries to run in a new process.

That is definitely weird. Epg123.exe doesn't do anything that requires elevated privileges. If you right-click the epg123.exe file and select 'Properties' and the 'Compatibility' tab, is the 'Run this program as an administrator' checked? If so, uncheck it and click 'OK'.

That was it. I wonder why EPG123.exe got the administrator mode. But now it works!

Thanks, Gary!!!
