EPG123 not importing from SD

EPG123 has been trouble-free for so long, I forgot how to ask a question!! Instead of trying to describe the import issue, below is the trace log. I have tried to rebuild the WMC DB and it may no difference. What else should I try?

The 4003 error code is not unusual if you have multiple machines using epg123 or other programs using Schedules Direct. It attempts to use its current token to verify if it is valid or not and will request a new token if it is not.

For the HTTP exception. Does it fail this way every time? In the same place? The connection to the SD servers is being broken. You may want to reboot your router to see if that clears the problem. Believe it or not, we've seen a couple strange failures in the last month or so that rebooting the router fixed the issue.

I only have 1 PC using EPG123 and no other apps use SD. Unless you count that I have multiple TVs with extenders?

I think it is still going to have to be something local to your computer/network. What is interesting in your 2 failures above is that they both failed at approximately the same time.
1. (0:00:00:21.4500376) 21.45 seconds
2. (0:00:00:21.4382396) 21.44 seconds

I just ran all channels on your lineup for 21 days and my time to completion was much, much shorter at (0:00:00:01.3057487) 1.3 seconds. It looks to me that the SD server closes the connection on you about 20 seconds after it has sent the complete response, but EPG123 is not getting the complete response.

Try only downloading 1 day's worth of data and see if that allows a successful transaction.

Nothing new on the network. I just disconnected everything from the hub other than the router and this PC and had the same issue.

I didn't change anything on the firewall, but is there somewhere I should check to see if something changed without my knowledge?

Do you have another machine to try and run epg123 on?

I loaded EPG123 on another computer, but forgot I would need WMC to make it work! All my other PC's are Win10 or better and I have never tried to get WMC to work on anything but my Win7 PC.

I have played around with deleting channels and it is still very intermittent, but the longest I have achieved is 1 week with 14 channels.

Even when it works, I still get this warning. What should I do about it?

You don't need to install WMC on a Win10 machine to test the server part (Server only install without the client). If you run it on a Win10 machine and it still fails in the same way, then it is your network. If it completes without issue, it is your Win7 machine.

As Gary is insinuating, you have EPG123 saving the MXF file in one place and the client is attempting to load it from a different place (although it appears that it notices this and loads it from the correct place). You should delete and re-create your scheduled task (within either EPG123 config GUI or EPG123 client GUI) so that this message will go away and the scheduled tasks for creating the MXF file and the one for loading the MXF file in to WMC will be configured to use the same folder/file (they are currently configured to save to one file and load from a different file).

Thanks Gary, this was very helpful. I used a Win 11 machine and can download a full 21 days of the schedule with the server app. I am having a similar issue on a Win 7 machine that has been very solid for over 10 years until the guide failed about a week ago. I noticed that on that Win 7 machine when I open the EPF123 server app it does not immediately show the lineup. I either need to reload or enter my password again to make the connection with SD. SD reports all is normal on their end. I have run CCleaner and Malwarebytes. Now running Spybot to verify there are no other issues. I do notice that Windows Defender keeps saying it needs to load on every reboot, which is unusual since there is no support.

You don't need to install WMC on a Win10 machine to test the server part (Server only install without the client). If you run it on a Win10 machine and it still fails in the same way, then it is your network. If it completes without issue, it is your Win7 machine.

Like everyone else, I am having an extremely similar problem that started 11/19/2022, after running great for over a year. I tried updating to epg123 1.7.3.0 but that still doesn't fix the problem. I emailed SD and heard back from them that the schedules are up to date. As you can see from my log file below, my installation complains about being out of memory, which is extremely odd since this Win7 machine has 8 GB RAM and is only using about 2 GB.

The only thing I can think of is that your cache file is corrupted. You should only be using 10's of MB, nowhere near 2GB. Delete your cache file and try again.

Thanks, Gary. I have deleted the cache and am trying again, this time with a 7 day lineup instead of 14. My "Update Guide Now" task has been running for 12 minutes and still the EPG icon in the task bar is blue and indicating that it is "Downloading, 1/13 Process subscribed lineups and stations...". This may be because I tried renaming the epg123.mxf file also.
The last entry in the log is from 15 minutes ago now:

Ok, apparently renaming the epg123.mxf file was a bad idea. I renamed that and at least it is importing it. The problem is, it is still from 11/19/2022, so it's almost completely expired, just 4 days left.

Open the configuration GUI, click the [Clear Cache] button, and try again. This will delete your cache file to be rebuilt when you run an update.

Sorry, didn't see you had actually deleted the cache file above. I just ran an update on your lineup, all stations, and it worked fine so it isn't something in the data from SD.

Try renaming your .\logos folder to .\logos_old and see if that gets rid of the memory error. You may have a logo that is choking EPG123 when loading them to add to the mxf file.
