PC crashed last night during EPG123 download

Hi Gary, it looks like my PC crashed last night about 30 minutes after the scheduled service update with a bugcheck related to Memory Management. If I had to guess, my PC ran out of physical RAM. Not sure. Its the first time this has ever happened. Could you please check below to see if you can find something wrong? Service log shows that I reached the SD download limit (See below). It didn't take very long to reach that limit. The only thing unusual about my SD lineups is I have 4 very large SD lineups

Could you please tell me what file(s) to delete if I want to start fresh again tomorrow? If I need to change anything in my settings, please let me know.


imageCache.json has nothing in it except for: {}

Also, I don't seem to have any jpg files downloaded except for channel logos.

Everything for epg123 looks good. You imageCache.json won't start filling up until your download counter gets reset. I think I remember seeing on the xTeVe discord that xTeVe can take a lot of memory processing the xmltv file, so you might want to curate you station downloads in epg123 to only the stations you want guide information for. XMLTV files are very inefficient, and you can see the size difference between the xmltv file and the mxf file it creates. So try and remove stations you don't want/need and if that doesn't work try reducing the number of days you are downloading.

Are you sure you turned off xTeVe's image cache? Something has attempted to download 6500 images in the last 18 hours.

I found out what crashed my PC after looking at the Windows Event Logs. It is my fault. A month ago, I foolishly installed an optional " Hewlett-Packard USB" update which consequently caused my PC to get stuck trying to install the driver over and over again.. eventually bug-checking my PC. I had run an in-place Windows upgrade to fix the problem.

...A month later (last night) Windows decided to install the same stupid driver again. I need to figure out how to tell Windows to forget my choice to install the optional " Hewlett-Packard USB" driver.. Apparently an in-place Windows upgrade doesnt forget my choice to install the driver again. If I can't figure out how to do that, I'm going to set a group policy to not allow Windows update to install device drivers.

I had the same thing on my virtual machines when I was working on WMC for Win10/11. It would always fail to install... didn't notice the memory usage, but I was moving pretty fast and rebooting and/or restoring the VM. I guess I never stuck around long enough to see that issue.

Okay... I finally got my PC back to normal again; this time I set a group policy to prevent installing any device drivers via Windows "quality" updates. I've also double-checked that xteve's image caching is disabled. Crossing my fingers.
